I feel like I was pretty much dragging most of yesterday. The day had been pretty unproductive, I was tired, exhausted and ready to be home. About 4 o’clock 2 of my co-workers headed out for the day. Thanks to a few early ports, they peaced out early. That left 3 of us girls in the office. Since I just moved my desk, thanks to my co-worker leaving, I am now able to actually look at people and talk. As I was talking to D about some random work gossip something caught my eye. One minute I’m looking at her, the next I glance at my computer and the next I see something on the floor. Hmmmm. What the hell?!?!? I look down “OH SHIT there’s a SNAKE in here!!!!” WHAT?!!?! D and VA are both like “WHAT?!” “Um, guys there is a SNAKE on the FLOOR!” A girl from the next office had walked in right as this happens. She’s like “I’m gonna go get someone.” As she backs out of the office we here her telling the floor there is a snake in our office. By this point I am sitting on the corner of my desk, feet off the floor and D has pushed herself in the corner. One of our techs comes in and grabs our butterfly net, yes we have a butterfly net in our office – don’t ask!, he walks to the back and starts trying to wrangle the baby snake in the net. After a few attempts and a used paper towel holder the baby snake is in the net and headed outside.
I must say I don’t really mind snakes. For the most part I’ve never really had a bad encounter. I respect their space and in turn I expect they respect MY space. There may even be a pic of me holding random snake. (Not the one from my office but one from my back yard, that I KNEW was not poisonous.) But seeing random nondescript baby snake in my office, less then 3 FEET away from my bare feet freaks me out a little, I’m not even gonna lie. At least if I’m outside, I know that I am looking for snakes and I’m in their world. Sitting at my desk doing my job is not really the place I expect to look down and see a snake. With that said, if another happens into our office I’m freaking moving, to another floor!!!!
I wish I had taken a pic of the baby snake but thanks to the recent FB update, it drained my cell battery like no body’s business. (Thankfully it was fixed last night.) But not in time to capture the creepy slithery in my office. Oh well. Hopefully it won’t happen again. And let me just say, the baby snake HAD to have been chilling under my desk because there is NO way he made his way from the door to the back of the room with no one seeing him. At least not when we did. Yeah, fun thought. Baby snake just hanging out under my drawer waiting to make his appearance. UGHHH!
