According to my calculations Halle was born on August 16th, 2000. Of course since she is a cat, who really knows but this is the date I gave her as her birthday. I didn’t actually get Halle until October of 2000. Due to some unfortunate or fortunate situations, I had to get my own place. This was my last year of college and having had numerous roommate issues mom and dad finally caved and got me a place of my own.
I really wanted a kitten but the apartment I rented didn’t allow pets. But when I went to sign my lease there was a lady there discussing her daughter’s dog, which was allowed at the townhouses they rented. However, I was able to convince the landlord that a cute little kitten would be no problem and that NO ONE would know I had a cat. I guess she felt bad for me or I was very convincing, and she said yes. I immediately called my mom to let her know. She was not a fan of this idea but once I had moved in I headed to the nearest pet store. And what did I find, the cutest little solid black kitten. It could have been a boy, but I thought it might be a girl. Mom wanted me to get a boy, I wanted a girl. ;) And this is how I came to have Halle. Since she was solid black and I got her in October I came up with the name Halle, like Halloween.
Poor Hal, she has been a trooper over the past 10 years. She has endured moving from Auburn to Prattville to Montgomery to Austin to Raleigh. And that’s not including the various apartments we lived in in those places. She even lived with a dog for a short period of time.
She is more like a child and less like a cat sometimes. Unfortunately since the arrival of Julio, Hal has been a bit more of a loner. Not that she wasn’t always but I don’t get to cuddle with her as much.
Since I seem to talk about Julio so much I wanted to post a little something for Hal. Happy Birthday Halle.

Today marks the 9 month mark. For our wedding! Up to now I had really been paying this much attention but I think now that I am to single digits it will start to set it. And I think it’s kind of funny that August 13 is also a Friday. Hehe!
M and I got a few more wedding things done today. He called the wedding coordinator, finally, at the hotel to set up a call to discuss the details.  We will talk to her next Friday at lunch. I think at that point we will have a better idea of how this will all work. We have the pricing sheet but I’m pretty sure that can’t be right ;) But really, I think it will give us a better idea of what we want to do after the wedding. I would prefer a “beach bbq” as opposed to a sit down dinner in one of the restaurants. I guess we might could do something outdoors but I’m not sure how I feel about something too formal. To me, sit down dinners are formal and well, nothing about this wedding really screams formal. In general I’m not a sit down dinner kind of gal. They feel to structured for me. I’m not very structured. I let M take care of that. 🙂
I made a call of my own today. I called the bridal shop to see if there was any kind of delivery date for my dress. My original thought was it should be in around Labor day. Which meant BEACH TRIP! But when I called she said it would be OCTOBER!!!!!!!!! And not only that but the END of October. Ughh! Oh well, it’s not like the wedding is anytime too soon. I guess I will have to wait.
I also found another site for flowers. I have now decided that I DO NOT want the “free” bouquet that comes with our wedding package. Plus I heard from another Sandals bride that it was pretty puny. The only problem I’m running into is that the places that have reasonably priced bouquets also have minimum orders that are about double what the bouquet is. Basically I found a great bouquet for $60.00 but I have to spend $100.00. I would prefer to not spend $100.00 on flowers, and fake ones at that. This may all remedy itself, if the moms and grandmothers want corsages. M is pretty opposed to this idea. “Why are we going to spend money on that?” “Well it’s pretty traditional hun.” “There is nothing about this wedding that is traditional, I don’t want traditional.” His words not mine. I see his point on one hand but the moms/grandmothers may see this differently. And if so I will of course have my minimum of $100.00. So we will see.
Well I think it just about movie time! Have a great weekend!

As you know I’ve been working on several DIY projects for our wedding. Back in July my cousin got engaged so I decided I HAD to make her a monogrammed hanger for her dress. I put it in the mail Monday along with the Save the Dates. Since she lives in West Palm Beach now I figured she might would get the Save the Date and then the package. She emailed me yesterday to say she had gotten the Save the Date. I told her she should also have a package in a few days.
Last night I got a text from her with a picture of her dress on the hanger. She got it YESTERDAY! Who would have thought USPS could be so quick? Anyway, I realized I had a missed call from her so I called her back. She said she loved the hanger. I’m glad that she liked it. They really were just something silly that I could waste some time making but I still thought they were a cute idea. Maybe I will keep practicing. See if I can’t get a little better with my wire bending abilities.
As you can see it’s not the greatest but it will work. When I talked to my cousin last night I told her it was a good thing I had always called her Krissy because I wasn’t sure I could master the “t” in Kristen. 🙂
I am actually getting pretty anxious to get my dress. It’s only been 9 weeks and I’m not getting married for 9 months but it would be nice to have it hanging in the closet. :) I guess I could actually call the bridal shop. Plus it will mean M and I will have to take a trip to the beach. And with how busy I’ve been the past couple of weeks I think I could use a mini-vacay about now.

Today feels like it has been filled with babies. People having babies, finding out what they are having, babies out of the blue. Babies everywhere really.
A friend of mine found out today the sex of her baby. She will being going out of town for a few days and went to the doctor this afternoon. I told her since I was one of the first people to find out she was pregnant that she HAD to let me know as soon as she found out. The running joke was that she was going to have a girl. So far our group is filled with little boys so the race for the first girl was on. Knowing that I should have the first girl I joked to her that I wanted her to have a boy so bad she would have a girl. Well today it was confirmed. I was right. It’s a girl!!! And I must say I couldn’t be more excited. Finally we get to buy girl stuff. Baby C will be the cutest best dressed baby girl in town. This also takes the pressure off me so M and I can now have a boy – when we start trying. 🙂
This morning I finally found out the reason a knottie had considered calling off her wedding. Turns out a few months back her fiance received an FB (facebook) message from a girl he had known a few years ago. The girl asked him to contact her. He did only to find out that the girl was claiming her 4 year old was his. Umm, that would be a shock. Apparently this girl is just plain crazy. As I read the story I was shocked someone could do the things she did. She was asking for money and support for her child claiming it was his. After several meetings, the guy asked for a paternity test. The girl agreed and then continued to come up with reasons she couldn’t meet. After a while the couple decided something was “off” and they weren’t going to continue with her games. This apparently pissed the girl off enough that she finally called and told the guy the baby wasn’t his, it was so and so’s and to F off!
WOW! CRAZY B! So here this girl is she has completely turned this couples life upside down for months knowing the guy wasn’t the father. People amaze me. And to top if off she is a MOM! She sounds like an excellent one too! (Read lots of sarcasm)
To end the day, a girl I went to high school with just posted on FB that she had her baby today. She was a year older then me. This is her first child and I am sure she is completely overjoyed. I know I will be.

I tried to start this earlier today but decided I didn’t really like where it was going so now I’m starting over. It’s about 10 to 5 and I have officially hit the wall. The wall of unfocused sleepiness. I just want to go home and take a nap. I’m not sure where this came from but I can’t seem to shake it.
It could be that I drew on my mouse pad with a sharpie. Apparently the room kind of smells like sharpie now, oops.
This weekend M and I were pretty productive. We ran some errands on Saturday and took advantage of tax free weekend. I bought a new lunch box. :) Since M was playing golf on Sunday so we bought him a new golfing glove. We also looked at a few set of golf clubs, for me! Okay well it was more of me looking at the pretty sets telling M which pattern I liked best. Hint hint. Brown swirlies with blue. Anyway, while M played golf on Sunday I started working on my WIT. Wife in training. HAHA! I hung a towel bar in the bathroom so I could put up some decorative towels. I finished my monogram hangers. I washed clothes, changed the sheets, went to the grocery and even made M a yummy delicious dinner that was ready when he got home. Oh and I made him homemade sweet potato fries. Yeah, I know you are impressed. :) It was a busy day really and I didn’t even take a nap. Maybe all that hard work is finally catching up with me. Ughh I need a nap.
Well it is almost time to go home so I am going to wrap this party up.

I just got back from the post office. For the past few days I have been addressing, stuffing, sealing and stamping the save the dates. The final step was to get postage for all the overseas save the dates that needed to go out. This morning I ran to the post office to get the additional postage. After a few minutes and several stamps later I stuffed the remaining Save the Dates in the box.
As I was driving back to the office, it hit me. I am REALLY GETTING MARRIED! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! Not ahhh, in a bad way but ahhhh in the I’m GETTING MARRIED! I am so excited to know that in a few months I will be M’s wife for real.
I just wanted to share since the system is currently broken and I had a few minutes to actually blog.

I feel like I was pretty much dragging most of yesterday. The day had been pretty unproductive, I was tired, exhausted and ready to be home. About 4 o’clock 2 of my co-workers headed out for the day. Thanks to a few early ports, they peaced out early. That left 3 of us girls in the office. Since I just moved my desk, thanks to my co-worker leaving, I am now able to actually look at people and talk. As I was talking to D about some random work gossip something caught my eye. One minute I’m looking at her, the next I glance at my computer and the next I see something on the floor. Hmmmm. What the hell?!?!? I look down “OH SHIT there’s a SNAKE in here!!!!” WHAT?!!?! D and VA are both like “WHAT?!” “Um, guys there is a SNAKE on the FLOOR!” A girl from the next office had walked in right as this happens. She’s like “I’m gonna go get someone.” As she backs out of the office we here her telling the floor there is a snake in our office. By this point I am sitting on the corner of my desk, feet off the floor and D has pushed herself in the corner. One of our techs comes in and grabs our butterfly net, yes we have a butterfly net in our office – don’t ask!, he walks to the back and starts trying to wrangle the baby snake in the net. After a few attempts and a used paper towel holder the baby snake is in the net and headed outside.
I must say I don’t really mind snakes. For the most part I’ve never really had a bad encounter. I respect their space and in turn I expect they respect MY space. There may even be a pic of me holding random snake. (Not the one from my office but one from my back yard, that I KNEW was not poisonous.) But seeing random nondescript baby snake in my office, less then 3 FEET away from my bare feet freaks me out a little, I’m not even gonna lie. At least if I’m outside, I know that I am looking for snakes and I’m in their world. Sitting at my desk doing my job is not really the place I expect to look down and see a snake. With that said, if another happens into our office I’m freaking moving, to another floor!!!!
I wish I had taken a pic of the baby snake but thanks to the recent FB update, it drained my cell battery like no body’s business. (Thankfully it was fixed last night.) But not in time to capture the creepy slithery in my office. Oh well. Hopefully it won’t happen again. And let me just say, the baby snake HAD to have been chilling under my desk because there is NO way he made his way from the door to the back of the room with no one seeing him. At least not when we did. Yeah, fun thought. Baby snake just hanging out under my drawer waiting to make his appearance. UGHHH!
I feel like my life is just a big blur lately. Currently I am sitting here staring at my computer trying not to fall asleep. Girl’s night was definitely much needed. The glasses of wine, well they were needed too. :)  I’m sure that is not helping my sleepiness at present.
I know I’ve been complaining about how busy I’ve been lately and it is true. I really am thankful for a manager who understands the current situation. I’m not sure what annoys me more, all the cases or my inability to keep up. I like to know that when I leave work my work is done. For the past month or so I haven’t really felt that way. At least now I know that I am busting it trying to get things done and not biting my lip, ready to spit nails, because someone else was not pulling his weight. Ina way it’s less frustrating I think.
Unfortunately work is getting in the way of my blogging habit.  BOO!
Not much else to report. Sorry to be so boring. Hopefully next week will be more eventful.

As the day draws to a close I feel like I have been treading water all day and making little to no progress. I am still not running on 2 nostrils. They’ve decided to take turns which is really annoying, although currently both cylinders are open. I have a headache that has been quietly making his presence known. Thankfully it hasn’t turned into a full blown headache but just lingering. Waiting for loud noise, I’m sure.
Luckily it is Girl’s Night in. So a few grapes will give their lives for the better good of society, or at least the better good of us. 🙂
With only having my future co-worker for an hour a day, the ramp up time is slow. I am trying to be as detailed as possible with my “cheat sheets” in hopes of ramping him up faster. No fault of his but one hour isn’t enough to find a groove and roll with it. And with me treading I feel I can’t give him the attention he deserves and am throwing him in the shark tank with me. Hopefully the cheat sheets will keep him afloat. I am grateful my manager completely understands my situation right now and is understanding that orders are BACKED UP!!!! And they will probably stay this way until I get a break or A-Dub (my new co-worker) can move over.
And just like that the clock has finally reached that mark. It is ALMOST time to leave.  Now I can tie up a few loose ends for the night and go drink. 🙂

Today was my co-worker, PJ’s last day (another, VA is leaving next week). And as promised we had a few tricks up our sleeves. First off we decided to fill BOTH cubes with balloons. I have never blown up so many balloons in my life. As a cover we told PJ that they were all for VA’s cube. By the end of the day we could tell PJ was getting a little annoyed we were making such a fuss over VA. Little did he know. :) This is what their cubes look liked when I left the office yesterday.

What it looked like walking in the door.

It really was pretty amazing. Little did PJ know the balloons were just the start of the tricks. We managed to put confetti everywhere and candy on the desk. I also made a cake last night. I googled good-bye in Chinese and put the symbols on the cake.

Everyone loved the cake. It was quite tasty if I don’t say so myself. (Poor M, I left his piece sitting on my desk when I left this afternoon. 🙁 )
The last surprise we had for PJ happened at lunch. We went to get sushi at great little spot down the street from our office. We frequent here often so our waitress was pretty surprised as all the girls walked in with PJ’s face on our shirts. We told her he was moving to China and this was our homage. We were all seated when the guys walked in. As soon as PJ was in the door we turned so he could see our shirts. It was pretty impressive.

After lunch the office was pretty out of control. I’m pretty sure I am the only one that actually worked, at least until PJ left.
The next few weeks will be crazy since I’m not sure when my new co-worker will be able to move over. I will do what I can and I hope that I won’t kill too many grapes until then. 😉
***Side note — Save the Dates are in and they look great! I am pretty pleased. If I weren’t so exhausted I would be stuffing them in envelopes tonight but, yeah that’s not gonna happen.
