I haven’t really posted much of the DIY wedding items I’ve been working on but I finished a few things this weekend so here you go.

The first is my DIY bridal suite/do not disturb sign.  I made this so the bridal suite and do not disturb signs would be interchangeable.  I didn’t feel like making 2 signs and in order to save a little space this seemed to work well.  I basically just added slits to the corners and the signs slip in.

The next thing I worked on was my cake topper.  The DREADED cake topper!  M and I ran to Michael’s on Saturday to pick up more rhinestones.  And wouldn’t you know, I didn’t get the hot fix ones (so I will have to hand glue them!)  And I didn’t get ENOUGH!  ARGGGG!  Seriously.  But I think it will look good.  I ran to Michael’s at lunch and picked up one more pack so this should finish it off.

Now I can finish up the last corner.  You can’t really tell but the rhinestones are a pale pink.  I think they will add just enough sparkle.  I’d thought about filling in the whole thing but that would probably require a million of these little boogers.  So this is what I’m going with.

And lastly I finished up my day of hoodie.  I might add another heart to the shorts but this one is done.

This might be a reoccurring theme throughout the next 78 days!  HOLY CRAP!  The days are just flying by.  One minute I’m super excited and like WOW, the next I’m like OMG, AHHHHHHHHHHH!  But really I am so glad that I met M and that he will be my husband in 78 days.  🙂

I’m pretty sure I should have a pre-wedding freak out soon.  I figure the sooner the better.  You know just to get it out of the way.  I’m sure M will really appreciate it.  🙂

Okay so there are a few things I suck at.  Now don’t get me wrong, the list is quite short but still.  🙂  My hair is one of those things.  Most days I think I have pretty great hair.  (Yes I just said that.  😉 )  Albeit normally its just straight.

As a child I always had super straight, super fine hair.  This made it hard to really “play” with my hair.  So to say I have little to no experience is pretty accurate.  As I got older I was so used to not doing anything that I still never learned how to create cute styles.  I pretty much have ponytail, twisty up, down, and half up down pat.  If a style strays from this I am at a loss.  Really.

Well since the wedding is coming up, and soon.  I’ve been more and more concerned with how I am going to wear my hair.  As I mentioned, I plan to do this myself, AHHHH!  Tonight I broke out the curling iron and started to go.  After a few failed attempts I finally managed to get curls.  Bad curls, but curls.  Pulled to the side in a low ponytail and we have a winner.  I think I will add a small braid to the side and be done.  And now for a pic and another thing I suck at, taking pics of myself in the mirror.  🙂

See I think the hair is decent.  And I think I have scrapped the idea of tousled.  Well scrunching to tousle.

Notice the pic is bad.  I have no idea how people seem to do this.  You know the whole “ahh I’m sexy taking my own pic in the bathroom mirror.”  Yes I am making fun because I think it is LAME!

It was another busy day today.  And it make it worse it was a beautiful warm day out AND M had the day off.  That’s right, he had President’s day off!  ARGGGG!

We also had a beautiful weekend and M and I made the most of it by shopping.   HA!  Yep that’s right we went shopping.  First we picked up his linen pants and started looking for a shirt.  A fellow knottie posted a nice shirt the other day and M liked it so we headed to Macy’s in search.  We found the shirt but weren’t completely sold on it being “the one”.  Once we got home he tried on his new outfit and we both decided the shirt was just a little too causal.  Thankfully for us, Macy’s decided to leave the security tag on another shirt we bought for him so yesterday we headed BACK to the mall to have the tag removed.  While we were there we headed to Belk to see if they had anything good.  We found a great Calvin Klein shirt on sale and picked that one  up.

Last night M tried on both shirts with his new pants and flip flops and we decided the Calvin won.  It is a dark blue, not quite navy, and against the white pants, it looks really nice.  The contrast of the blue and white really pop.

And with that we saw a really cool cloud Saturday while we were out.  I took a pic with my phone so it’s not great.

I am super excited.  M im’ed me when he got home to ask I bought something that was shipped to the house.  I told him no and that it must be a wedding gift.  Our FIRST official gift off our registry!  I finally told him he could open the box but not before I looked to see what it was.  He opened the box but since the gift was wrapped he waited until I was home.

We were both surprised that the gift is from someone who is coming to the wedding.  I figured it might be from one of the family members not able to attend.  And it is a gift both of us really wanted to receive.  We can use this for many many years.  YAY!  It is just very exciting.  Things are starting to happen.  🙂

Yes, I know I know.  I am a blog slacker.  Yesterday was pretty busy at work and I was buried in rate centers most of the day.  I meant to blog when I got home but by the time M reminded me it was late and I was over it.  🙂

I didn’t think I had any wedding related items from the weekend but I do.  I had a small “hair” victory on Sunday.  Last week I decided if I am going to do my hair for the wedding myself I need to get busy.  While I was a Target I bought some mousse.  I know mousse has a stigma but really, it works great.  Anyway M wanted to go to the mall on Sunday and then we were going to a Super Bowl party.  I mean what better time then to experiment on your hair.  So that’s what I did.  With mousse in hand I began.  I scrunched my hair, added some styling cream and then diffused it out.  (For those unfamiliar, a diffuser goes on the blow dryer and helps with curls.  That is obviously the technical version.  HA!)

Let me just say WOW!  My hair was really really big when I finished diffusing it dry.  I mean like, it hasn’t been that curly since I had a perm, curly.  I knew there was no way I was leaving it down.  But before I pulled it back I used the curling iron to help make a few curls a little more curly.  Once this was done I pulled it back in a low side ponytail.  My goal had been to have flowy curls at the bottom but that didn’t really work out.  All in all though it actually looked pretty good.  I decided to put in my wedding earrings and take a few pics.  You must forgive the pic, but you get the idea.

Okay really it’s not a good pic but whatever.  Here is my hair inspiration.  As you can see I need more practice and LOTS of it.  🙂

Something similar to this but more ponytail/bunish.  If that makes any sense.  I know I will probably go to my stylist in the next few months and see if she can help me achieve the look I am going for.  Until then I will keep trying.

HAHA!  Confused yet?  Well if you remember, a few weeks ago I went to pick up my wedding band, only to find the wrong one had been ordered.  While we were at the jewelry store M found his wedding band.  I think I said it then but this was a HUGE deal and I was very excited he managed to pick one.

Anyway, yesterday while I was at work I got a call from a Raleigh number.  I had been waiting to hear back from my hair stylist so I answered the phone.  Instead of my stylist it was the sales girl from the jewelry store.  She said that M’s ring was in and we could come and pick it up.  M didn’t really want to go last night so I said we would go this weekend.  But since I have another baby shower on Saturday I figured it might be hard to get there.  So I asked him if he would want to go tomorrow night and he said he’s rather just go tonight.  Works for me.

Honestly I wouldn’t care if he wanted to run there on his own but I really want to have his ring engraved so I figure it will be easier just to have them do it once we know the ring is right and it’s the right size.  And while I’m talking about sizes I’m almost willing to be money his ring won’t fit.  The girl tried several different ring sizers on him and they were all different sizes.  A few months ago we were at the mall and he tried on a few rings.  Each store in the mall sized him at a 9.  The jewelry store sized him at an 8 and 1/4.  Yeah, so if this thing actually fits I will be surprised.  But if it does fit I am going to go ahead and have it engraved now.

I hope that my ring will be big enough to engrave but I don’t think it will.  🙁  I don’t know but I’ve always liked the idea of your wedding ring having a special inscription inside.  I guess we will have to wait for my ring to come in before we know.

Oh my gosh we are getting married in 100 days!!!!!!!!!!  Where did the time go?  It feels like we still have so much time but obviously as the days (and my ticker) countdown, time is flying by.

I feel pretty lucky in that, most of our stuff is now done.  Just a few small random things left to do.  And we still need to finish M’s wedding day wardrobe.  He still needs a shirt and shoes.  It also looks like I am going to need a seating chart.  After our call with the coordinator we thought we might do a set menu but after a little talking we think we will offer our guests a choice of entree.  What does this mean?  It means I now have to make a seating chart and come up with some easy place card settings.  I’m not gonna lie though, I’m kind of excited about getting to make place cards.  And table name signs.  Hehe.  Don’t tell M, because it means there will be more stuff to take to St. Lucia.  😉

So with 100 days left till we get married, M keeps reminding me that we only have x amount (or today, 98) of days till we are actually in St. Lucia!

I am kind of starting to freak out.  I have 102 days left until M and I get married and suddenly I am feeling bombarded with tons of “what if’s.”  What if my hair doesn’t do what I want it to.  (Okay this really isn’t a what if and more of a when it does.)  I am a complete hair dunce so the thought of trying to get perfectly tussled, yet perfectly “fixed” hair boggles my mind.  What if I don’t look like I want to.  What if the pretty pink sash I had to have is dead to me.  I said DEAD TO ME!  (I’m not sure what’s going on with that but I’m not sure that’s the look I want right now.)  What if I wear the sash and the pin I got to hold it looks stupid with my pretty pink earrings that I LOVE?

Why does it feel like this is going to be so hard?  I mean how hard is it to put on a pretty white dress and walk down an aisle?  Apparently, if you are me, it is super hard since I’m FREAKING OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  AH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have no idea where all of the stress suddenly came from.  Up till yesterday I was smooth sailing with not a care in the world.  Now it seems I am worried about the tiniest, most stupid details.  And I feel like I still have so much to do but I know I don’t really have that much left to do.  The cake topper really needs to be my priority one.  That is going to take the most time.  I worked on the layout for our menus last night and so far I am pretty happy with those.  (This reminds me I should print it while I’m at work so I can see if my layout works.)

I finished up my bridal suite sign over the weekend and now I just need a scrap piece of ribbon.  I also ordered the koozies for our guest bags.  I am just waiting for the girl to send me a proof.  I think they should look cute I just need to see how my colors are going to look together.

Maybe I’m finally coming down off all the drugs I’ve been on for the past couple of days and that is causing me to be stressed.  Who knows!  All I know is that I MUST sleep tonight.  I spent most of last night tossing and turning and wanting to scream every time I woke up to see I’d only been asleep for an hour.  I’m hoping it’s because I slept so much yesterday I really wasn’t that tired.

And in other news it seems as though the plague is spreading quickly.  M has been sick since Friday.  My boss has it.  And by the looks of a few others here at work they will also be hit by the bus soon.  Thankfully I feel better.  🙂

Last night M and I ran by the jewelry store on our way home to pick up my wedding band.  We walk into the store, the girl says she will go and grab the ring and we start to wonder around.  A few minutes later she comes and finds us.  She takes the box, opens it up and hands it to me.  I look and…….it’s the WRONG ring.  I look at the ring and look at her and say “this is the wrong ring.”  I begin telling her what the ring was supposed to look like and we all head over to find the original ring I looked at.  Once we find it she agrees it is not correct and goes to find the girl who sold us the ring to see what happened.

The girl we bought the ring from comes out and explains the designer sent the wrong style number.  My ring was like EDxxx and the one they sent was ADxxx.  She said she would contact the designer and get the correct ring sent out.

I was a little disappointed that my ring was incorrect.  But after seeing the one that I love, I knew it would be worth the extra wait.  Plus we still have 4 months (to the day 😉 ) left.

While we were there I told M we needed to look for his ring.  After wondering around and looking in case after case another sales girl came to help us.  M told her what he would like in a ring and what he didn’t want.  With all of that she suggested we look at Palladium rings.  They are durable like platinum and naturally white in color yet they are a fraction of the price.  Plus they were all super lightweight.

The sales girl pulled a few rings, M and I both suggested a few and before I knew it M had 3 in the running.  He continued to go back and forth between the 3 and then narrowed it down to 2.  We liked both and I told him that it was his choice since he would have to wear it FOREVER!  🙂  A few minutes later he picked one.  Aaaaahhhhhhhh!  Really?!?!?  I was very excited that he actually picked one and said this is it, let’s get it.  I really figured he would say he wanted to think about it but he made a decision.

I really like the ring he picked out.  I like that he really likes it.  The price was good and it’s a ring that he can keep forever.  It can be engraved and sized if needed.

Now we are waiting for his ring to come in and my correct ring to come back.  I guess there will be another ring post in 4 to 6 weeks.  🙂
