Guthries sauce and purified air Sep 15

I went to the doctor this morning and it turns out I have a good ole sinus infection.  No telling how long I’ve had one.  Probably since father time told me to take the sudafed.  Oh well.  The doc went over a plan of what to do to help me keep from getting this way again.  The plan included some meds but she also recommended plants in the bedroom and an air purifier.  Normally I would have balked at the air purifier.  I mean I’ve made it this long but after yesterday’s headache, I am ready to throw down the money for one.  It also looks like a netti pot is in my future.  She even gave me the measurements of the solution you need to use.  I might try to make do without the pot and see what happens.  :)  Hopefully I will start to feel better soon and my headaches will go away and I will be able to breathe again.

When I moved from Alabama I got really homesick during football season.  Even though Texas is a big football state finding the Auburn game on TV was not easy.  One day I was looking at the Auburn website and realized there was an alumni group in Austin.  I immediately contacted the person in charge and started going to the watch parties.  The group was pretty small but it was nice to be able to watch the games and have other fans around.  Now that I’m in Raleigh, it seems the Auburn games are easier to find.  But again I found the local Alumni group.  The first year I was here I went to watch parties a good bit.  The bar they meet at is/was awful.  Before Raleigh passed the smoking ban this place was filled with smokers.  I would leave and have to take a shower at home.  EW!  Then I met M and he has season tickets to State so I get to watch Auburn around State games.

Today I got the email for the Auburn watch party this weekend.  The State game is Thursday night so I am free to have my Auburn day.  Only the email said they were also including door prizes and free food this weekend.  Big whoop right.  OMG hell yes you are right!  The are bringing in my FAVORITE college food.  Guthries!!!!!!!!!!!!  I <3 some Guthries special sauce.  To the point that M and I will go to the watch party if only long enough to get some Texas toast and sauce.  I am only a little excited!!!!  YAY!!!!!!  Oh the memories that stuff brings back of hung-over morning trips to Guthries for toast, fries and sauce.  Ahhhh, those were the days.

102!?!? Sep 14

Somehow I managed to completely miss my 100th blog post.  So I will celebrate 102 with a boring lame post because, well I feel like CRAP!  After months of having an on and off stuffy/runny nose I am going to the doctor again.  The last straw was the horrible headache I woke up with this morning.  I’ve had a headache for about a week straight.  Enough is enough.

Happy Tuesday I’m going to bed.

Football and rhinestones Sep 13

I love that M loves football.  I am a big college football fan so I like that this is something we share.  However, over the weekend M noticed that the NFL Network was having a free preview weekend.  This meant back to back to back football.   He even found a “highlights” channel.  So every 2 minutes or so the game would change.  I had no idea what was going on or who was playing let alone winning.  Sheesh!  We will NOT be getting that package.  Now tonight is Monday night football.  I foresee quite a few chick flicks in the near future.  Don’t get me wrong I like COLLEGE football but I could do without the NFL.

When M vegged out to football yesterday I figured I had one of two options, go shopping and spend money that really didn’t need to be spent or see if I could work on some wedding projects.  Wedding projects won.  M mentioned that I probably needed to start working on the invitations so I set out to find a few more fonts I might like.  Well this lead to near disaster.  I went to a bad website which took out my computer :(  Oopsy!  M messed with it on and off through out the afternoon and finally got it back in working order.  YAY!  (I <3 that he will fix my computer, hehe).

Since my computer was down for a while I didn’t really feel like I could work on my invitations so I decided I was going to start jeweling things.  I bought a hoodie from VS last weekend so I pulled that out to see how many more crystals I would need.  Turns out I need more then I have.  :)  But I did have enough to start working on my veil.  Once I figured out the tulle wouldn’t melt under the heat of the iron I was good to go.  I ironed the tulle to make it flat.  Then I started working on the pattern of the crystals.  I knew my veil would be pretty small so I only did 3 rows across in a staggered diamond pattern.  And let me just say, ironing tiny crystals onto tulle with tiny weaving is a pain in the ass.  It took me about 30-45 minutes to get the crystals on.  But in the end I’m glad I spent the time.  After that I tried to “sew” the top together (which is basically weaving string in and out and pulling it together) but I couldn’t really figure it out.  I just gathered the top and bottom edges together and then tied some string around it.  Worked just fine.  The hair flower I found to go with it had a pin and hair clip option so I pinned the veil to the flower and I can just clip it in.  This also makes me realize this might be why my back is in knots today.  Ughh.  Anyway here is the finished product.

This that and woo Sep 10

After weeks of feeling and being completely buried at work I am FINALLY caught up.  And when I say caught up I literally mean there is nothing else I can do.  AW has been such a huge help.  Even though he is still learning he is willing to help me with whatever I need him to do.  This afternoon we finally managed to get one last queue completely cleaned up.  This queue has been a wreck from the start so the fact that we have been able to really knock it out in a couple of days really makes me feel good.  Plus it’s Friday, it is beautiful outside, Auburn won last night, I just bought M’s birthday present AND saved some money on it, so you could say I’m pretty happy right now.

Also it looks like things are going to work out with mom and dad’s house.  They had worked out something with  couple that was interested but unable to sell their house.   Last night that couple received an offer on their house so it would seem all things are a go.  Mom plans to be in OK by October 1st.  Hopefully this will be a good change for her.  My dad has been sending me pics of the area and I have to say it’s actually very beautiful.  It’s not at all flat and dessert like.  :)  Which is what I had envisioned.

I was a little upset earlier.  We are starting to find out that fewer and fewer friends will be at our wedding. I understand that destination weddings are a little different and are more expensive but M’s been in and attended all of these people’s weddings so I figured we might have a better turn out.  He seems to be fine with it but I guess I’m a little put off.  Oh well.  The only thing that matters is that at the end of the day we are married and our families will be there to support us.

I’m not going to let that get me down because really I’m having a good day.  Now if 5:30 would just hurry up and get here I could go home and sit on the deck with a nice glass of wine.  M had a dentist appointment yesterday and on his way home he stopped by Trader Joe’s.  It is a grocery store kind of like Whole Foods but smaller.  He picked up a few bottles of wine AND some flowers.  That was his “woo” for the week.  :)  I told him the other day I needed more “woo.”  What is woo?  Woo is what boys do to make girls like them.  Just because I like him doesn’t mean the woo has to stop.  And well I told him I didn’t think there had been enough WOO lately.  Glad he picks up on the subtle hints.

Baby Asher Sep 09

Baby Asher has arrived and I as said yesterday M and I went to see him the other night.  Last night after dinner I finally looked through the pics I took and edited a few.  I really only got a few good shots.  And I didn’t take that many pics anyway.  Here are a few of the best ones.

I love the first one.  For some reason I really like this photo setting and use it a good bit.

Asher and Dad.  Best I could do I didn’t realize the light in the background was so bright.  🙂

Rules! Sep 08

Last night M and I finally were able to go meet baby Asher.  He is just adorable.  So cute and small.  I’ve heard some stories about him from friends but it was fun to see him wiggle and squirm.  I took a few pics of him but I haven’t looked through them yet.  I doubt I got anything really good.  But I might can work a few out.

It’s funny how one day he wasn’t here and the next he was.  Lately M and I have had more and more baby talks lately.  We are waiting until we are married and then all bets are off.  Seeing baby Asher last night has really made me start to think.  OMG!!!!!!!!!!  Babies change everything.  ALOT!  I know that we are going to be so excited to finally have a baby but it’s almost overwhelming.  I think what’s ever more overwhelming are all the “rules” that babies now come with.  You must keep the room 68 degrees, they can’t sleep on their tummies, breast milk is best not frozen…..the list seriously goes on and on and on.  I wonder how we have made it so long not knowing all the “rules”.  Oh that’s right, our grandparents, and even our parents, didn’t have some of these crazy rules.  It’s really sad that our society is so sue happy we must “rule” every little thing to death.

I mean in some countries women just have babies.  That’s it.  I must say that I never want to do anything to put my child in harms way but really, when is it enough?  When is it too much?  I guess I won’t make too many judgments until I start actually planning for a baby.  Then I’m sure I will be on the “are you serious?!?!” bandwagon.

Happy hump day!

It’s all about football Sep 07

College football officially began this weekend.  Friday night M and I sat around the house and watched TV.  I tried to subject him to Say Yes to the Dress, his fave of course.  As soon as I turned the channel he bolted for upstairs.  After finishing one episode I told him to come back down and I’d watch something else.  We were going to watch a movie but the On Demand with Direct TV is a bit different and so the movie we were going to watch didn’t come on again until midnight.  Oh well.

Saturday morning I actually woke up pretty early.  I guess I was excited.  After lunch we headed to the stadium to begin our first tailgate of the season.  Our usual crowd was smaller then normal but we still managed to have a good time.  M and I watched the first half of the game and then headed home at half time.  M, like all the other NC State fans, was curious to watch the UNC v LSU game.  I must say I was less then impressed with either team really.  And while I normally don’t pull for LSU I found myself wishing they’d done better.

Auburn played Arkansas State so the game wasn’t on TV but M managed to find it on one of the ESPN Internet channels.  By this time I was pretty exhausted so I waited for Auburn to score one more time and then I hit the hay.

Sunday I met the girls at the mall for some shopping.  But really we all needed something to do while the guys did their fantasy football draft.  I did find a hair flower for my veil and I also found a cute hoodie and shorts for my ‘day of” outfit.  All I need to do is add the rhinestones that say K & M 5.13.11.  I figure this will be better then putting something really large or anything that says “bride”.  I just didn’t want to send that much money on something I could really only wear one day.

Yesterday may have been the busiest day all weekend though.  Mom came down yesterday morning to FINALLY drop off the dresser.  Then we headed out to do a little shopping.  I really needed a pair of shoes for upcoming weddings to match the dress I bought but had no luck.  I did find M something for his birthday.  It’s not really the gift gift but it is something.  I am still on the hunt for his real gift.  Once I got home I took a nap.  Then I decided the dresser needed to be touched up so I ended up throwing another coat of paint on the whole thing.  Around 10pm we went downstairs to move it back inside.  Since it was pretty much dry we decided to just go ahead and move it upstairs.  We got the TV on it and all the stuff moved.  Now the bedroom looks nicer.  We still need bedside tables and I guess I will paint the bed frame.  The  plan is to use this furniture until we get pregnant and then we will use it for the baby.  That way we will only need to buy a crib.

Ughh, I just looked down at how much I’ve written.  Oops.  I didn’t realize I had this much to say.  And back to work.  🙂

Or just 1 and maybe some football Sep 03

M has officially made fun of the 30 days of me postings.  And apparently Stairway to Heaven isn’t “best song ever” worthy.  I still think it’s a pretty awesome song but I’ve kind of nixed the whole “30 days of me” thing.  Not so much because I don’t like the idea.  I just don’t really think it’s a great idea for me.  I like to post more about what’s really going on.  I doubt anyone cares about a list of my favorites.  (Not that anyone really reads, HA!)

So just like that this blog is going back to normal and fast.

Last night was the start of football season.  College football that is.  I am more then excited for this.  I love football but I also love tailgating and going to the games.  M gets season tickets to NC State and while it’s not Auburn or the SEC, it’s football!  I will sport my red NC State tee with the best of the fans and root for the Wolfpack!  And now that I have a super awesome phone I will check the Auburn score while sitting in the stands at Carter Finley  🙂

Tomorrow will also mark the Jetta’s first tailgate.  This will be the first time (since I started going to games) that M and I have tailgated in a car and not an SUV.  This should be interesting.  Thankfully most of our friends have SUV’s so we should survive.  And as I sit here and type this I am finding it almost comical that tailgating in a car is funny.  I mean we are taking chairs and most of the time we didn’t sit in the back of the SUV anyway.  HA!  Whatever I’m sure we will make it.

WAR EAGLE & GO PACK!!!!!!!

And she’s buying Sep 02

the Stairrrrrrrwaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyy to Heeeeeeeeeavennnnn!  That’s right ladies and gentlemen, my favorite song is Stairway to Heaven by Led Zeppelin.

I’m not sure what it is about this song that I seem to love so much but it is my “go to” on favorite songs.  Maybe I like the way the song starts off slow and then jams out.  There are several other songs that follow this style that I also like.  It’s funny too, that I can’t remember the first time I ever heard the song.  I’m sure it was in the car with my dad one day.  But unlike some other songs that instantly evoke memories Stairway isn’t one of those.  I just love this song.  And I would like for it to be played at my funeral.  In general I really like Zeppelin and I may have managed to incorporate some Zeppelin in my wedding.

I went through a huge classic rock phase in high school.  I had all the great albums, Led Zeppelin, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Steve Miller band, Jethro Tull.   I’m sure my dad was more then ecstatic while my mom hated every minute of it.  I remember one night in particular driving out in the country with my friend Jessica.  We were in my mom’s jeep, we had the windows down, classic rock blaring and Boone’s farm under the seats.  Yup, can you say classy?  🙂

I can’t say that a “rock out” to the classics anymore but I do remember the days when my ears were filled with the greats.  Now I tend to jam out to all the newest pop that comes on the radio.  Not so much because the music matters but it is fun.
