2nd times a charm? Oct 12

This will be TMI but I am being overrun by snot.  It really is starting to get bad.  So bad in fact, that I called the doctor this morning in hopes of getting more antibiotics called into the pharmacy but NOOOOOO I have to freaking come in AGAIN!  I am slightly annoyed that it has been less than a month and I have to go back.  At least I can sleep in a little tomorrow morning.

I feel like I should feel worse for as sick as I think I am.  Thankfully I don’t really feel bad.  And hopefully after tomorrow I can get my snot problems under control.  I can’t remember having this many sinus issues in a long time.  Ughh!

Today has not been all bad though.  I ordered 2 bedside tables from Wal-Mart.  Yes Wal-Mart.  But they are pretty cute and they are super cheap.  Cheap being the objective.  Since M and I have decided to just “make do” for now I don’t really care to spend a ton of money on furniture we may not need or want or use in a few years.  I would just like our bedroom to not have tv trays as side tables.  :)  Now I just have to paint the bed and find some acceptable bedding and I will be set.  Oh and then I need to paint the bedroom and the bathroom and while I’m at it the WHOLE house!  This could start a never-ending project…..but maybe one day M’s house will feel like our house and not just his house.

Til tomorrow!

Weekend wedding and modeling pics Oct 11

After much debate I decided to pay for my dress and have M’s mom pick it up and bring it to Raleigh.  I just couldn’t stand knowing it was sitting down there waiting for me.  M and I talked it over and decided this would work.  M’s mom will look over the dress and leave it at the house next weekend.   So when we get home from our road trip to MS my dress will be there! YAY!!!!  I really am pretty excited.

Over the weekend M and I had a wedding to attend in New Bern.  I’d never been to New Bern and it was a nice little break.  We drove down Saturday around lunch and as luck would have it just about the time we couldn’t pick up the State game on the radio they were headed to halftime.  When we got to our hotel room the second half had just started.  State put the hurtin’ on BC so I made M walk around the marina with me so I could take some pics.  We stayed in the Hilton which was right on the water.  Saturday turned out to be a beautiful day.  I got some good pics of the boats in the marina.  Then we got ready and headed to the wedding.    It was at the country club on the back lawn over looking the water.  It really was a pretty setting.

Sunday morning M and I finally got up and I called my great aunt who lives in New Bern.  She is my grandmother’s sister.  I only vaguely remember seeing her once when I was very young.  We met her at a restaurant down the street from the hotel for brunch.  After brunch she gave us a “walking” tour of downtown.  She also showed us  a house she previously lived in and then took us over to her current house.  I had heard stories from my mom that my great aunt had been a model in New York at one point but I’d never seen any pictures.  She had several on display including a national cigarette ad she was in as well as some modeling photos.   She was very pretty and had that pin-up girl look about her.  It was pretty cool to get to talk to her for a bit.

M and I finally headed home after walking around downtown, since it was Mumfest.  It was actually a pretty nice and casual weekend.  But I am glad we will be home this weekend.  Maybe I will actually get to watch an Auburn football game.  I feel like we’ve had so much going on and I keep missing games.  Although after seeing the score updates for this game I think I’m glad I didn’t watch.

Now I guess I will try to pass the time until it is time to go home.

You’re Welcome Oct 08

One thing that really gets under my skin is people who constantly ask things of you and offer nothing in return.  And by this I mean something as simple as a thank you.  There is a guy I work with like this.  He constantly demands things without so much as a “Hey guys can you do…”.  And NEVER EVER does he say thank you.  People like this drive me nuts.  I know I may not always say thank you but I feel like I try to make an effort to do so.

When I leave work, to get on the highway, I have to merge into traffic.  Lots of people have to merge and sometimes getting out of the off-ramp lane can be a pain.  For some reason people fail to understand that by not letting one person in, they are just causing more backups and more delays.  Once I get in, if I can tell the person has slowed down for me, I will send a wave in the rear-view mirror with a “thank you”.  And then I will proceed to let someone else in.  Rarely does anyone “wave” to me once I let them in.  So I guess I understand why most people feel the need not to let you in when you get nothing in return.

So just remember everyone likes a thank you now and then.  Have a great weekend!

Moving on up…. Oct 07

This morning we moved to our new seats on the 3rd floor.  I really like the 3rd floor.  There are windows and sunlight and currently a lot of commotion.  It’s kind of odd having people walking all around all the time.  I hope this will all settle down once everyone is moved.  I guess this  is the price of the 3rd floor.

My cube is nice and cozy and CLEAN!  Our old room was a disaster of stuff.  Who knows how much food was behind the desks on the floors.  Luckily no one will be moving into that office.  :)  I definitely feel like getting work done will be a bit harder here.  At least for a couple of days until everything and everyone is settled.

As promised I took a pic this morning of my new space.

On the left, AW is on the other side of the glass.  To the right there is an empty seat and DS is behind me.  All in all it’s not too bad.  Plus we are close to the bathrooms and the elevator.  😉

And since I know my 3 readers care, my sinuses are still a mess.  I broke out the Mucinex this morning and I will continue to take the Nyquil.  Hopefully I will start to feel better soon, but really I’d settle for being able to breathe.

Free stuff and elevators Oct 06

I had hoped that today’s blog wouldn’t suck again but I can’t make any promises.  Today was pretty busy, hence I didn’t get a chance to blog at work.  I really hate it when work interferes with my personal life.  HA!  :)  Plus I had to run to the mall during lunch.  M and I went over the weekend to find shoes and shirts.  One of the shirts we bought had some loose threads and large pin holes so M wanted a new one.  Plus Estee Lauder’s free gift started yesterday so I had to go back to get more make-up.  I try to plan it out so that I always need more make-up during free gift time.  I know I’m a genius (and I’m a bag whore – I love those stupid bags).  🙂

Anyway, the mall trip pretty much took up all of lunch.   And when I got back to work I barely had time to eat my lunch between trying to figure out what circuit went where and and which one should be disconnected.  And then people were calling me.  Ugh, people really, it was lunch time!

This afternoon our group FINALLY had a meeting.  We really didn’t learn much more about our new jobs, only “you will make this what you want it to be.”  Okay then!  After I told my boss, “I WANT TO DO THIS!”  This of course being random and arbitrary since I still don’t know what we will be doing!  hehe!  The highlight of the meeting………wait for it……….wait for it……………….our new seats!  YAY!

I can’t even explain how extremely excited I am.  Plus I found my new seat and I LOVE it!  I am on the 3rd floor with all the sunlight and windows, and new cubes that are clean and of course where the snakes don’t live.  I was so excited in fact that I have my computer and monitors in my chair just waiting to be lifted to the 3rd floor first thing in the morning.  (Get it lifted, because I’ll have to take the elevator – okay so I’m not sure my humor comes across in blog form, eh)  Heck I’m so excited I might even take a pic of my new space tomorrow.  🙂

Smells like dinner is almost ready and I’ve bored all 3 of you enough for another day!

Good way to end the day! Oct 05

A good way to end the day.  I just got some good news about a project I’ve been working on for a few days.  Long boring story but I helped make it happen and that feels good.  🙂

Yesterday I ended up going home early.  I think I said the change in weather was doing a number on my sinuses and yesterday afternoon I decided to go home and try and sleep it off.  I feel better today but I still feel “it” lingering around the edges.  Whatever “it” is really.  Between the nyquil and neti-potting hopefully I can knock this out before this weekend.  M and I have a wedding to go to out of town.

Ughh, so I really have nothing to talk about today.  We are still super busy at work and all of the transition stuff is for the birds!  Thankfully it has been confirmed we are moving to the 3rd floor.  Now we are crossing our fingers we get some good seats close to the windows.

And now it’s time to go home.  Sorry this blog sucks.  I’ll try to put more effort in tomorrows.

Gold shoes and a wedding dress Oct 04

M and I have several weddings over the next few weeks.  I found  a dress a while back but I had been unable to find any shoes to go with the dress.  It may be a bit too “springish” for fall weddings but I really liked it and it was half off.  So it was a great deal.  This weekend I told M we had to go to the mall and find a new shirt for him and shoes for me.  Even though the dress would probably look better with silver shoes, I’ve been missing my gold shoes.

Several years ago I bought a pair of gold Nine West sandals.  I LOVED these shoes.  To the point that they were literally falling apart but I just couldn’t get rid of them.  Then one day I decided it was time to put them out of their misery.  That was almost 3 years ago.  Since then I have been unable to find a pair I just loved…..until yesterday.  As we were walking through Belk for the 2nd time I saw them.  Gold strappy sandals, on sale!  AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!  :)  It was like the heavens smiled down.  I tried them on and was in love, again.

I find it funny that I LOVE gold shoes.  Gold is not really my color and I pretty much own nothing else gold.  But I love gold shoes.  The new ones aren’t a sparkley as the old ones but they look great with jeans, and well that’s what matters.  And of course there is a pic.  🙂

Aren’t they great?

Also noteworthy today, I finally got the call.  You know THE call, my dress is in!  I am so excited.  And I would be even more excited if I could go and get it this weekend.  I’m not really sure what to do.  I guess M and I will have to make a beach trip next weekend.  I can’t wait to see me in my dress.  And not some stupid model in some crappy internet pic.

All of the excitement from my dress almost makes me forget about the fact that I feel like complete and utter crap.  I woke up at 4:30 this morning after dreaming I couldn’t breathe/swallow.  Only to find out I really couldn’t.  My head has revolted against the cooler weather and I feel awful.  I’m going to try to make it through the day.  It was so bad that after a hot shower this morning I even used my neti-pot.  Not that it helped really.  I still feel like I  have something in my throat making breathing and swallowing difficult.  I guess I will try to make it the day and see what happens.  I foresee some nyquil in my future.

It’s a B-A-U-TIFUL DAY! Oct 01

Well today is October 1st and it’s transition day.  However today is pretty  much the same for most everyone.  The one thing this day did bring is BEAUTIFUL weather.  I met M for our usual Friday lunch and we enjoyed a nice, cool, sunny day.  All the rain apparently brought fall on its heels and I love it!  I always say that Spring is my favorite season but I think I am closet Fall fan.  :)  I love the chilly nights and warm days.  The leaves changing colors and of course football season.

I’m really glad I was able to have a nice lunch outside since we are completely buried at work.  MOST. CASES. EVER!  No kidding.  AW and I are plugging away but this is gonna take a while.  And by awhile I mean days.  :)  Oh well.  Just another thing that makes you go “really?!?!?”  and then you realize where you are and then you can’t believe you are really surprised.

Happy Friday!

It’s a floodin’ Sep 30

I am currently 13 minutes closer to Friday!  Wow what a week.  Tomorrow is our “official” transition day at work.  Tomorrow I will officially be a voice person.  What does that mean exactly?  I have no freaking clue.  No one does really.  I can only dream of sunlight and windows on the 3rd floor.  Rumor has it our group will be moving there.  That means we will FINALLY be out of the dungeon on the first floor, you know the place where the snakes live.

Today is also moving day for mom and dad, last I heard.  I told them to let me know if they were leaving today but it just hit me I haven’t actually heard from them.  Guess I will give them a call when I leave.  With all the rain we’ve had the past few days, their plans may not be on schedule.

I am LOVING the rainy days.  It is so nice to not walk out to 90 degree weather at the end of the day.  It’s cooler and the forecast for the weekend is beautiful.   Great weekend to tailgate and watch football.  This rain has however created a leak in our house.  On the third floor, in the bathroom at the edge of the house.  I called the handyman yesterday and M was able to meet him.  The guy went into the attic but couldn’t find any visible leaks.  He pulled back some of the insulation and left it.  This morning as I was taking a shower I realized the leak was starting to spread down the wall.  GREAT!   This is not really what we need right now.  Thankfully if the handyman can find the leak I’m sure he can repair it.  And he is very reasonably priced.

6 minutes and counting.  Our queue is overflowing today at work.  Orders just keep coming in.  I think AW and I are done.  It reminds me of the scene from Poltergeist where the mom is in the hallway running and it just gets longer.  Yeah, that’s our queue.  :)  And now I’m at 4 minutes so it’s about time to wrap this up.

Hopefully I won’t wash away driving home.  🙂

Down in a drain Sep 29

Last night M and I went for a walk around the neighborhood.   This is more favorable then going to the gym especially on nice afternoons.  I like out afternoon walks, when we get them, because M and I get to just talk about our days and what’s going on in general.  It’s nice to just have that time to spend together.  I know that probably seems odd since we don’t have kids yet.  But our afternoon walks are just nice.  🙂

Anyway as we were walking yesterday I heard a kitten crying, loudly.  I told M I heard a kitten and he was like, what?  No you don’t.  So I turned around and headed towards the noise.  As I got closer to the corner I realized the sound was coming from the storm drain.  I immediately began calling the kitten trying to get him to come out so I could see him.  M walked over and started shaking the keys and I went to drain across the street.  After a few minutes the little kitten finally moved so I could see him.  Finally he came out and I see these big blue eyes look up at me and then he went back in the hole.  M walked to where I was and we proceeded to lift up the storm grate.  (Please note apparently it is against the law to lift these things ;))

I climbed down the stairs in to the drain, yes I know, and tried to coax the little guy out.  After several minutes with no success M said we needed to go.  We could call animal control at home and they could get him.  I wasn’t happy about this but I knew we probably weren’t going to get the kitten out.  Plus a older man walking his dog said there were tons of ferrel cats in the neighborhood.  But this was a cute sweet kitten right?

Once we got home I called the Raleigh animal control office to report the kitten.  They promptly sent an officer out to take a look.  I met her at the spot and the kitten was still crying.  She had to take a call and when she finally walked over the kitten had stopped crying and I hadn’t seen him again.  :(  With that we decided it was time to go.  The officer said they get numerous calls about ferrel cats in that particular area and the kitten would be fine.  So I returned home kitten free.

Side note:  M told me before I left to meet animal control “You BETTER NOT bring a kitten home.”  Who me? ;)  I kid I kid.  I know another kitten is not in our immediate future.  I’m just such a softy and wanted to make sure the little kitty was okay.
