M and I decided we would celebrate Valentine’s day on Sunday since Monday, is well Monday.  Yesterday we went to brunch at Coquette in North Hills.  It is a delicious French restaurant and their brunch was amazing.  After brunch we headed downtown to Father and Sons antiques.  I was really excited having read a few reviews.  The place is 3 stories and I figured would be loaded with fun stuff.  I must say I was quite disappointed.  They have very few “antiques” and a lot of clothing.  I guess my idea of antiques is different.
I worked at an antique store for a while when I was in AL and I have to say, our store had really nice antiques. Â But we also had several other good stores in the area. Â Very little clothing, that’s what clothing stores are for. Â Point being, I was disappointed.
Anyhoo, after the disappointment downtown we headed back to get our dinner. Â We decided we would cook a nice dinner just like we always do. Â I guess it is becoming a nice little tradition. Â One I really like. Â After a trip to Earth fare (or where ever we were) we had 2 nice New York Strips, sweet potatoes, dessert and one lovely orchid. Â Since M didn’t plan well I ended up picking out my own flowers. Â And since the orchid was the same price as flowers I decided to give it a go. Â I talked to the girl in the floral section to make sure I had a good idea of what this plant would need. Â And then I was set.
Once we got home we decided to open the windows and take a little snoozer. Â We then got up and started working on dinner. Â M prepared the steaks and I worked on the sweet potatoes. Â I’ve never actually just cooked sweet potatoes so I wasn’t sure as to what to do. Â Once they were cooked I threw them in a bowl and started mixing away. Â I added this and that and I must say they were pretty darn good. Â *pats self on back* Â 🙂
M threw the steaks on the grill and before we knew it we had a nice dinner. Â Steaks, wine, sweet potatoes and of course the world’s largest cupcakes. Â
I didn’t make them but boy were they yummy. Â And we didn’t do much to put a dent in them either. Â Looks like we will have our cake for a while.
Happy Valentine’s Day!
