Working from home Dec 16

I didn’t want to jinx it yesterday so I didn’t say anything about the predicted snowfall for today.  They were predicting a dusting to 2″ by this morning.  I woke up around 3am and looked for snow.  No snow.  I woke up around 5am and the streets were covered with the white stuff but the ground only had a light dusting.

By the time my alarm went off about a quarter to 7 there was a fair amount of snow on the ground.  I logged into my work email and IM’ed my boss.  I was told we were on the inclement weather schedule and I could work from home.  HELL YEAH!  I headed back to bed and set my alarm for 8:20.

After finally getting all of my work stuff set up on my computer I was ready to go.  For a little while.  Since most people were working from home the day was pretty slow.  I managed to shower, cook M breakfast, catch up on my co-workers date and do a little work by lunch.  The rest of the day was pretty slow and now it’s mostly ice outside.  The snow stopped pretty early but we’ve had sleet and freezing rain on and off all day.

Tomorrow we are following the same procedure as today.  I will have to wake up and check to see if I am going in to work or working from home again.  As much I enjoyed sitting around the house in my pj’s, working on my laptop is not the easiest thing.  I am so used to having 2 monitors now that trying to use one makes certain things pretty difficult.

I’ve enjoyed my “snow” day today.  Although I’d prefer snow to ice.  I didn’t even manage to take any pics today.  This wasn’t the pretty shiny ice.  Just the yucky, nasty, slushy ice.  Should make tomorrow interesting since the temps will be below freezing again tonight.

Till tomorrow.

I stole a snowman! Dec 15

Last night was the 2nd annual girls ornament exchange.  This year I came back with a really cute ornament.  It is a little snowman and he is just adorable.  I picked him and then he was stolen from me.  Lucky for me someone then stole my next ornament and I was able to steal my snowman back.  He now hangs proudly on my tree.  YAY!

I feel like there is nothing going on in my life really right now.  I’m trying to not let work get in the way of my wedding planning.  This week that is consisting of all things invitation related.  First I wanted to print all the names on the envelopes, now I’m thinking of using fancy labels, to spicy things up a bit.  Plus OMG how much easier would that be?  A LOT!

I know I’ve said this before but I feel so much more crafty now.  If only I could figure out a way to use my skills to make money.  An internet store would be the easiest if I could figure out what I might be really good at and what people would pay for.  Oh the possibilities.  Now if they would just come to me.  🙂

150 Dec 14

Is the number of days in which M and I will be married.  Pretty funny how yesterday was 5 months and today is 150 days.  I know it’s silly.  🙂

Today, M and I have been debating as to whether or not we will send out RSVP’s.  I mean we will know who is coming based on our TA’s numbers.  But then I’m scared people might be confused to not receive one.  I think we might just include a card with the TA information, wedding website and booking date.  I don’t know we will need to figure it out and soon.  I plan to have the invites printed the week after Christmas.

Tonight the girls will have our 2nd annual ornament exchange.  I found the cutest ornament while I was at the beach for Thanksgiving.  I might just have to try and get it back.  😉  Last year there were some really cute ornaments.  Unfortunately I wasn’t crazy about the one I ended up with.  It’s hard when you feel like someone thinks what they got is really nice and you don’t.  Honestly I’m not even sure where it is at this point.  I hope I will be more successful tonight and come home with something I like.

It’s only Tuesday?  Ughh!

21 Mondays equal Dec 13

5 months.  YAY!  I think it is finally starting to hit me that M and I will be married very soon.  After a last minute decision to join some friends on a cruise, M’s parents were able to visit the resort yesterday.  They said the staff was very nice and showed them around the property.  M’s dad took pics for us and sent them last night.  Now we can see the different locations we might want use.

I am very excited they were able to go and see the resort before the wedding.  This will allow M and I to specify certain things we might miss out on if we had to wait.  Since his parents are still cruising we won’t get all the details till we see them at Christmas but I think I can wait another week.  🙂

Anyway, I feel like I had a lot more to say this morning.  I guess that’s what happens when you put off blogging all day.  Eh.

5 months today, 4 months and change tomorrow.  Ahhhhhh!  The time is starting to fly.

Running on fumes Dec 10

My company Christmas party was last night.  Yep on a Thursday night, which really puts a damper on all the free drinks I can have.  It also makes the next day kind of rough.  Thankfully no one is really running on all cylinders either so I don’t feel too bad.  That and the fact there doesn’t feel like anyone is even here.  Eh.

M decided to leave at 4 so he is probably just now pulling into the house and will soon be in bed taking a nap.  (I dislike you right now!)  I want to be home in bed taking a nap.  Although I don’t know that I am really all that sleepy.  It just sounds like a good idea.

I am a little bummed though.  I think I looked pretty cute last night and M and I failed to get a pic together.  Our resident photog came down with the flu and missed the party so no pics this year.  🙁

Now I just need to figure out a way to kill this last hour without working too hard, or too much 😉

Happy Friday!

I’m not even sure how I missed this! Dec 09

It SNOWED over the weekend!  I co-hosted a baby shower this weekend and as people were still arriving I got a text from Matt saying it was starting to snow.  Sure enough I looked out the window and snow was falling.  I immediately told everyone it was snowing.  I think everyone expected a few light flurries and that would be it.  Boy were surprised a few minutes later as the snow really began to fall.

By the time the shower was over everything was covered in snow.  I had about an inch or so on my car.  And it was STILL snowing.

I’m not sure this has been fully conveyed but I LOVE SNOW!!!!  Yes I know it’s cold and wet and causes a huge mess as it melts but I can’t help it.  I love the white stuff.  Well I love a little of the white stuff.  A few inches and I’m good.  Just enough that I might not have to go to work, everything is covered and beautiful yet you aren’t confined to the house for days and days.

I’m sure we will get more snow before the season is over but the first snow fall is always nice and I’m glad it happened Saturday during our baby shower.

And of course, you know there is a pic.  🙂

It’s not the best as it was taken with my phone but man it sure does look pretty.

Yes, it’s all about the beer! Wait I mean kids! Dec 08

This year our company decided to have a Ficus tree decorating contest.  The contest was broken up by business units.  The winner gets pizza and beer.  Our trees started out as angel trees for needy children.  All of our angels were gone within the first few hours and then we started to decorate.

We were provided lights and that was it.  We had to use items found around the office to decorate the tree.  Well somehow I became the head of the ficus tree decorating committee.  Me and a co-worker ended up making the majority of the decorations.  We started with paper chains, paper snowflakes,  and other items we could make from paper and construction paper.  We also found a few more random items to add.  T-shirts for the tree skirt, a phone – we are voice, a phonebooth – yep and some CAT-5 cable.  You can see where this is going.

Anyway the second floor decorated their tree with food – umm, ew.  And the first floor, ohhhh the first floor.  Hehe, they didn’t read the email to see that judging is at COB today.  That’s right, TODAY!  So their tree is, well, undecorated.  We’d heard rumors they had planned to wait til the last minute to get their tree together.  Unfortunately the last minute was the wrong day.  AHAHHAHAHA  😉

I feel pretty good that victory will be ours.  I mean we really really want beer and pizza.

Our amazing ficus tree.  Be ready to be amazed.  🙂

Christmas came early Dec 07

Yesterday actually got even better.  I had to run by the salon to have my layers trimmed.  Not sure how that got missed the other night but anyhoo.  I got home and before I’m even upstairs M is asking me if I saw his text.  Umm, no I was driving.  I get upstairs and on the counter is a large Kitchenaid box!!!!  YES!!!!  Exactly what I wanted for Christmas.  My parents sent our gift but unfortunately Target didn’t wrap it.  Basically there was no way I was going to let that thing sit in the box til Christmas.  So now there is a shiny red kitchenaid mixer on the counter.

It came just in time too.  M and I had planned to make Christmas cookies this weekend.  Now we don’t have to worry about the mixer catching on fire. 😉

I said yesterday that I took some pics for friends of ours to use on their Christmas cards.  Well they love them and I am very excited.  Although they won’t tell me which pic they used.  I’ll have to wait for my Christmas card.

Here are a few of my faves.

A Christmas Card Cluster and something sparkley! Dec 06

I ordered my Christmas cards on the 30th.  The company I used is normally really good about getting things out quickly so I never pay for faster shipping.  Last week I get the “shipped” email and I start tracking my cards.  I figured they should have arrived around Wednesday or Thursday.  When they still weren’t here on Friday I checked my tracking and nothing had changed.  I contacted the company to find out what the delay was.  First they tell me the cards haven’t been picked up yet.  I reply and STRONGLY suggest I would appreciate them being on a FedEx truck today.  Well yesterday I get an email stating my cards had been “lost by carrier.”  OMG!!!  Are you kidding?!?!!?  They also say they are reshipping and I should have them in 7 calender days.

It’s cool it’s not like I have cards to send overseas.  Ughh!  Well I decided to track the “lost” cards and they are now in transit.  I have a feeling I am going to end up with 100 Christmas cards.  So I guess M and I will have some to rotate out for a few years 😉

The good news gets even better today.  On Friday, while I was out shopping I decided to run by one of the jewelry stores by the mall.  I’d heard on the radio they were having a sale this weekend.  Basically everything in the store was 20% off.  I told M I would run by and see if the sale was worth going to.  When I finally got a sales associate I looked at a few rings and found one I really liked.  She quoted me a price and it made me very excited.  I got home and told M about it.  So yesterday he agreed to run by and check it out.  Well we get there and speak to another girl and find out the price is actually double what I was quoted.  I’m pretty sure you could see the disappointment all over my face.  The girl was very nice and looked around the store to see if there were any others that were similar but more in our price range.

She finally returned and said she would be happy to call a few of the designers and see if anyone would be able to make the ring within our price range.  She asked for my name and number and said she would call.  I honestly figured I wouldn’t hear from her.  Because I figured she wouldn’t have any good news.  Boy was I wrong.  She called me around lunch and said she’d found a designer willing to make exactly want I wanted and with the discount it would be in our price range.  I texted M and he said if I liked it to put down the deposit.  So I called her back and I now have a wedding band currently being designed just for me.  AND it should be here by Christmas!  YAY!  If for any reason we don’t like it we can also choose to not take it.  So it’s not a bad deal.  I’m so happy.  I was pretty upset yesterday at the thought of not getting that ring.

So happy Monday!

We’re going to Glendale! Dec 04

Well M and I aren’t but after Auburn’s victory over South Carolina tonight, my beloved “War Eagles” will head to Glendale for the BCS Title game!  OMG!  I am so excited.

Originally M and I thought we might try and go to the Title game if Auburn made it all the way but after checking ticket prices we realized it just wouldn’t be possible with the wedding.  Although I am strongly contemplating a watch party at this very minute.  I’ve already told my boss I might not be in if Auburn loses and I might not be in if they win.  🙂

Since Auburn is 13-0 AGAIN!  I felt it was time to celebrate a little.  With all the drama this season I’ve been hesitant to post about my Tigers but tonight, well tonight I will!

Here are a few pics from the game.

I said it’s GREAT to be an AUBURN TIGER!!!!  WAR EAGLE!
