Happy New Year! Dec 31

M and I are about to head to our local watering hole for a night filled with football, friends and beer.  I do hope they have some champagne for toasting.  Anyhoo, 2010 has been a pretty amazing year.  M and I got a kitten, moved in together, and got engaged.  I can’t wait for 2011 since that means we will be getting married very soon!  YAY!

Here’s to a new year!

Painting, posting and pics! Dec 30

Yesterday was pretty busy for us.  M wanted to add more storage to the laundry room so I decided we also needed to paint.  After a trip to Lowes, we had new paint and a new shelving system.  We got home and started working on the paint.  M decided to edge while I started on the walls.  The only thing I didn’t really account for in the whole, “let’s paint the laundry room!” was the water heater in the corner.  What a pain in the ass.  Luckily M picked up this nifty little edger thingy and we were able to get behind the damn thing.

I’m just going to say I LOVE the paint color I picked out.  I thought it was the lightest color off the same swatch as the bathroom but I was wrong, however it does match.  I have a feeling this color will end up in our bedroom.  That’s how much I like it.  Here are a few pics.

The color is kind of a dark khaki.

Not that you can really tell but we added the shelves on the right side.  We have 2 lower shelves and then a longer shelf at the top.  It gives us some more storage considering it was a wall that had nothing on it.

During all of the painting and such, there was also some major drama that went down in internet land.  So in between painting I would randomly check the boards to see what was going on.  Let’s just say it was a lot.  I could say a ton more about it but I think enough has been said.  It’s just a shame when people have nothing to do in real life so they must make drama with people they don’t know.  Let alone being entirely to f’ing old to be playing around on wedding boards!

Anyway, I also had baby Raylee’s newborn pics last night.  I think a few turned out pretty good.  Now I just need to upload them.  I’ll post more about this tomorrow as it deserves much more then to be in this post.  So you’ll have to wait till then for a teaser pic.  🙂

It’s my first snowman! Dec 28

So for the first time in 31 years I made my very first REAL snowman today.  M and I got home early this afternoon, ate lunch and then he went outside to shovel the driveway.  While he was shoveling with his “shovel” I unpacked the car.  Once I was done I decided it was time to make my snowman.  With a little direction and NO help from M I slowly started working.

M with his shovel.

Yep that is a dust pan taped to a broom stick.

So there is my first snowman.  🙂

I might have a problem. Dec 27

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas.  M and I are still at his parent’s house.  We will be home tomorrow.  I fully intend to enjoy all the snow that is left in Raleigh.  Most of the updates we got were between 6 and 7 inches in our neighborhood.  I am really excited to get home and make a snowman (M probably not so much.  🙂 )

We each got a bit of money for Christmas so we ran down to the outlet stores today.  Surprisingly most of the stores were having really good deals.  We came away with quite a few new things.  My best find happened to be……

Yep you guessed it, another pair of Gold shoes.  I think I have a problem really.  I’m normally not a shoe whore but I love me some gold strappey shoes.  They are sooo cute and were such a good deal I just couldn’t resist.  YAY!  Now I need a fancy party to wear them too.  Looks like my tootsies might be cold New Year’s Eve.  🙂

Twas the night before Christmas Dec 24

And Santa decided to stop by our house a little early.  hehe

M wanted a few pictures of our tree filled with gifts before we pulled out the ones for his family and get everything ready for tomorrow.  Therefore “Santa” stopped by early.  We also finished up our last batch of Christmas cookies.  Only a few more hours until it’s time to open gifts.

Merry Christmas!

Baby C is here! Dec 23

I texted E this morning to see if she was off work.  I was thinking about going to get a mani/pedi and wanted to know if she could come.  Well about half an hour later I get a text from her husband.  Baby Raylee was born this morning.  Three weeks early and just in time for Christmas.  Mom and baby are doing well.

Good thing I have all next week off because it looks like I will shoot my first newborn pics.  YAY! 🙂

Christmas vacation – day 1 Dec 22

It is day one of my Christmas vacation and I must say I’ve enjoyed today.  M and I rolled out of bed around 11am.  We had one more gift to buy so we got ready and headed out to face the crowds.  Lucky for us the crowds were pretty tame.  After hitting several stores we finally found what we were looking for.  Well I found what we were looking for.  M didn’t really agree with my choice but, well I think it works and he’s a boy so there.  Hopefully I picked out something good.

I really hoped I would get a call today from the jewelry store saying my ring was here but no such luck.  The girl told me it should be in before Christmas so I have 2 more days.  I don’t really expect it will come before Christmas but it would be pretty nice.

In wedding related news, I think I’ve decided to suck it up and hand address my invitations.  There really aren’t that many and I do have the time.  I figure if I do a few a day then I won’t feel so stressed out about doing this.  I also expect to make another trip to Staples to buy more envelopes since I am positive I will mess up a few.  I’ve gone back and forth with this, I’ve polled the other knotties and it basically comes down to my gut.  I feel like I really must handwrite them.  Hopefully people will be able to read them.  🙂  I also think I am going to try and find a pretty stamp to dress them up a bit.  And by stamp I don’t mean postage stamp, I mean some sort of flourish stamp.  I guess a trip to Michael’s will also be in my near future.

A white Christmas? Dec 21

I am only a few short hours from being FREE!!!!!!!!  Yay vacation!  I cannot wait to have almost an entire 2 weeks off work.  Granted I will still check my emails and such but I assure you I will not be working.

I ran out to tan (yes I know but hey I have a wedding coming up and I WILL be tan) and then over to the grocery store at lunch.  I needed to pick up a little gift for my boss and I needed some chips for lunch.  🙂  Anyway, that’s not the point.  On my way back to the office, what do I hear on the radio?  Chances of rain/snow mix, on CHRISTMAS DAY!!!!!  Are you kidding me?!??!  I am beyond excited about the prospect of snow.  Never in my 31 years have I ever had snow on Christmas.  Around Christmas sure, but never on Christmas day.  I was so excited I called M but he didn’t answer.  And when he did call back he was less then thrilled.  Whatever, I’m still excited and that’s what matters!  🙂

Only 4 more days till Christmas.  I really can’t believe how excited I am for M and I to have our first real Christmas as a family.  He was quick to point out this is not really our first Christmas together.  But it is our first Christmas at our home and regardless that we weren’t technically a family yet, we are our own little semi family.  (For the life of me I cannot remember what I used to say and I just searched old blogs looking.)

Anyway, I guess I will get back to work.  Or not working really.

What’s in a name? Dec 20

When I first started my current job we had a name board.  As we would go through different accounts we would pick the best of the best names.  Here are few pretty generic examples:  Holly Wood and Holly Berry.  A few other names that have made our board.  Mr. Goodgame, Bones, Mr. Cockshutt (that’s a personal fave) and my most favorite of all, Ms. Shaffer-Micucci.  Yes, you read that correctly.

When we moved to the 3rd floor we decided to resurrect the name board since our cube walls are half glass.  While some of our names are repeats we’ve also found several new ones.  It makes the day a little more fun when you find “the” name of the day.

It makes me wonder about some of these people whose names we run across.  What are they like, what does their name really say about them?  This brings me to a friend who is currently pregnant.  While I was one of the very first people to know she was pregnant, she is holding out on the baby name.  And it drives me nuts!  🙂  If curiosity really did kill the cat I would have been dead long ago.

Anyway, I really don’t have much else to say.  It’s five o’clock and I am one short day away from vacation.  I have until the end of the year off!  WOO HOO!  AND Christmas is only 5 days away.  YAY!

The sweet taste of victory! Dec 17

So crap!  I forgot to blog today.  I meant to post after our white elephant exchange at work.  I’d intended on writing about what I got.  (A bottle of red wine I helped a co-worked pick out 🙂 ) But then I got busy, then they brought up beer and pretzels for our ficus tree win, and well then I was home.  Sitting here, interneting, when I looked at M and said CRAP, I forgot to blog.

Below is what victory tastes like.

That’s right beer and pretzels.  🙂
