Wait you wanted to actually sleep? Nov 16

M had to get up at 3am to get ready for his 6am flight to Toronto today.   Since he knew he would only get a few hours of sleep he went to bed pretty early.  I stayed up and watched TV for a while.  After I finally laid down I realized I hadn’t seen Julio in a while.  With M in and out of stuff, I started to worry Julio had been locked in a closet somewhere and I would fall asleep and he would spend the night locked away.  Of course I couldn’t let that happen so I walked down stairs to find him.  As soon as I was in the den he came over to me.  I told him it was time for bed and we headed upstairs.

Once we were in the bedroom I laid him on the bed next to Hal.  I figured he would be sleepy and go to sleep. Ummm, yeah.  He decided it was time to play jump on Halle.  This of course woke M up.  I finally put Julio in the hall and shut the door.  Then, poor thing, I could hear him sticking his little feet under the door and meowing.  Seriously?!?!?!  I decided to put Hal out too, to be fair.  Then I hear BOOM CRASH and M say “wtf was that?”  I get up and the table in the hallway has been knocked over.  The vase is on the floor and Hal is the the middle of the flowers.  I pick everything up and head back to bed, with the door shut again.

Hopefully tonight will be a lot less eventful.  I guess I will do some laundry and my hair, again.  I had hoped to have a movie for tonight but I don’t think that will happen.  I guess M will just have to watch Letters to Juliet this weekend with me.  🙂

*and just to clarify, I am almost 100% certain Julio knocked over the vase and table.  I think Hal was checking out the damage.

A shopping we will go! Nov 15

This weekend I finally made M go shopping for wedding bands.  I told him we weren’t going to buy them yet but he really needed to start looking.  I know him and it will take him forever.  And thanks to a broken pinkie years ago, a wedding band might be a little uncomfortable.  After looking a little I think he has narrowed down the type of metal he might want.  He even got the style number of one :D  Does this mean I think the hunt is over?  Not by a long shot.  I will probably wait til the new year before I really put the pressure on him to figure it out.

Meanwhile, I’m pretty sure I found my wedding band.  It is a little more then we had talked about spending but it is far less then the other ones we looked at.  It is platinum and has diamonds on the band.  I really didn’t figure I would be able to find one for the price we found.  Granted it’s on sale but the sale will last through the end of February.  YAY!

Since we have so many other things coming up soon, like Christmas, and football tickets and car insurance the wedding bands will have to wait.  Till then I’ll just keep looking at the pic of the one I want.

Also, we went to 3 jewelery stores, all nice ones, and all 3 mis-identified my diamond.  I got emerald cut, princess cut and one person was just like, what is that?  HA!  And I thought these people knew what they were doing.  :)  Oh well, it just goes to show it is pretty uncommon and I like that.

Til tomorrow!

Six months and one day, a check list? Nov 12

Six months and one day from now I am going to marry the man of my dreams.  Awwwww!  But really the whole blog won’t be like this I promise.  :)  Since I don’t blog on the weekends I will miss this important milestone and well I was kind of out of ideas for today, hehe!

In six months and one day I will be a Mrs.  I am very excited to marry M.  It’s really hard to believe we are to this point.  With six months left we still have a few more things to do.  Print the invitations, and pick the font!  Buy our wedding bands, which will take M close to six months to find the right one.  Yes I’m talking about you!  :P  We need to find him a shirt and flip flops for the ceremony and I need to buy him a boutonniere.  I still need to have my dress altered/hemmed/bustled/whatever, which will happen in April.  And then there are still a few random DIY projects that need to be finished, including our cake topper and my day of outfit.

Thankfully I don’t really feel stressed yet.  And I think once I have the invitations done everything else will be pretty easy.  This also means I have six months for my hair to get to a reasonable length that I can manage to style by myself.  Unfortunately only nature can control that, so wish me luck.  Otherwise I will be sportin’ some Jessica Simpson extensions. 🙂

Well Friday, it took you long enough to get here and now you are taking forever to get to 5:30.

They <3 each other! Nov 11

M and I have had our suspicions that Halle and Julio cuddle when we aren’t around.  Normally Hal will tolerate some sweet kisses from Julio for short amounts of time but this is really as close as she lets him get before the hissing begins.  Well last night Hal was up and the couch and Julio decided to join her.  And by join I mean lay RIGHT beside her, touching her!  I looked at M and we both waited for Hal to make it known she would not tolerate him touching her.  However, she did nothing.  She laid there and Julio laid his little head on her.  It was the cutest thing.  Thus proving to M and I that they do <3 each other.  :)  And just to make sure I grabbed my phone and took a few pics.

Awwww, aren’t they cute?  And no M and I had nothing to do with this.  They actually slept like this for a while.

The post that shouldn’t have to happen Nov 10

Hello Wednesday you suck!  The day barely started and I was in a pissy mood almost before I left the house.  I’ve kept my blog away from all the football controversy surrounding Cam Newton but I’m about to break.  I’m not going to rehash the rumors and speculations or the “unidentified sources”.  My only question is this, what if the kid did nothing wrong, and by nothing I mean taking money, what if he is just a scape goat for people’s jealousy and envy?  What happens then?  This kid has been put through the ringer because people are jealous of his success.  His talent.  What a shame!  If he did take money, well we all know how that worked out for Reggie Bush.  Super Bowl ring anyone?  Whatever the outcome, I hope for the best and I hope Auburn and Cam will be found in no wrong doings.

With my rant out of the way, I find myself feeling very silly getting all worked up over this debacle as it were.  I just read a friend’s blog.  A friend of hers just lost her husband this morning.  He was maybe 30 years old with a wife and 2 kids and he passed away from a brain tumor/cancer.  So as I’ve sat here this morning stewing over the latest football nonsense, this girl is grieving the loss of her husband.  I can’t even imagine what I would be like if I were in her shoes right now.  It seems silly to me that I am so worked up over something so trivial when in real life bad things happen yet no one knows about them.

I’m not sure these things should even be in the same blog.  They are hardly related and one seems far more important then the other.  Yet somehow I feel I can’t talk about the first without mentioning the second because a year from today, 10 years from today, this day will mean something much different to someone else.

Sweet tea, the hang over cure? Nov 09

Last night M and I went to dinner with his parents, grandmother and aunt.  One round of  mixed drinks and three bottles of wine later we were having a great time at dinner.  What a great way to start a week or end a Monday right?  HA!  Yes if you don’t have to go to work the next day.  Needless to say I wasn’t feeling top notch this morning.  I didn’t feel bad but I didn’t feel great either.

Finally the clock hit 11:15 and I decided a trip to Wendy’s was in order.  I mean a night of drinking deserves some fast food relief.  More importantly it deserves some good ole sweet tea.  I’m pretty sure sweet tea might be a hang over cure since I already feel better and I’ve only had a few sips.  :)  In college this was always my go to as well.  A night of drinking normally lead to a McDonald’s or Guthries trip the next day.  I say it was for the food but I’m starting to think it was really the large sweet teas that got ordered.

Anyway, M and I had a nice visit with his grandmother and aunt last night.  They seem really excited about our wedding and have even bought their wedding attire.  YAY!  Now  M and I really need to get on buying OUR wedding attire.  I’m not talking wedding dresses and suits but the actually clothing we will need while in St Lucia.  My summer wardrobe is pretty sparse although I’m doubting November is the time to start looking.  Oopsy!  I know we will figure it out.

Just another Monday post Nov 08

Oh Monday, why do you keep coming back?  This weekend was the end of daylight savings time.  Let me just say I really like daylight savings time.  I DO NOT like regular time.  Sure it’s nice to see daylight when I wake up in the mornings but really, I hate leaving work and it’s already dark out.  I know I’ve read about why daylight savings was started but it just seems kind of dumb to me.  Well at least regular time does.  🙂

M and I had a pretty lazy weekend.  Saturday was full of football.  Unfortunately the Wolfpack didn’t fair so well against the Clemson tigers.  Had I known both teams were going to play like utter crap I would have worn my Clemson sweatshirt in hopes of a Wolfpack win.  Oh well. Auburn had homecoming this weekend and it was an easy victory over Chattanooga.  And that’s all I’m going to say about my Tigers for now.  (There will be a long detailed post in the next few weeks.)

Yesterday afternoon while we were watching yet another football game, M and I noticed that Halle was limping pretty good on her back right leg.  I grabbed her and started gently poking and prodding to see if I could figure out what exactly hurt.  I’ve pretty much ruled out her foot as I pushed and pulled and stretched it out.  She didn’t seem to have any discomfort with that.  I think it may be more in her hip area.  We are hoping she just pulled something playing with Julio but if she doesn’t look better in the next day or so she will have to go to the vet.  I am worried about taking her because I’m scared I’m not going to like what they say.  She has several lumps, which have been identified as fat deposits, but a while back I noticed a knot on her neck.  It’s about the size of a pea and it’s hard.  I’ve been keeping an eye on it and it hasn’t seemed to grow but I still worry something might be wrong.  I know I should take her in but I don’t know if I could handle her being sick.  But if she is I just don’t want her in pain.

Anyway enough sad stuff.  Back to blah Monday!

He put his head in the bowl! Nov 05

The other night M and I decided the weather was chili worthy.  On my way home M asked me to stop and get some peppers and an onion and a couple of lotto tickets (it was at 104 million – obviously we did not win).   I got home and M began working on our first pot of chili for the season.  After some minor tweaks and a little bit of this and a little bit of that we decided it was ready.  M grabbed a bowl of chili and a bowl of chips.  I grabbed my bowl of chili and we had dinner on the couch, as we do most nights.  🙂

Anyway, once M was done with chips I grabbed the bowl and started to eat them with my chili.  As usual Julio decided that he needed to be as close as possible to what I was eating.  Sometimes this bothers me and I make him move and other times I’ll let him sit in my lap.  This was one of those, he can sit in my lap nights.  I knew he wanted some of what I had but I thought the chili was a little to spicy for his “tummy troubles” so I gave him a little piece of a chip.  He ate the chip and I continued eating my chili.  Then he decides to just stick his head IN the bowl of chip crumbs!  Okay, really?!?!?!  M and I look at each other, look at Julio who is still trying to get a little chip piece, look at each other laughing and wait.  He finally gets the chip piece, sits on the couch and eats it.  At this point M and I were cracking up.  This really just happened.  And more importantly we just watched and laughed.  I told M we were gonna make great parents.

Julio is such a little rascal but he’s so darn cute it takes a lot for either of us to really get mad at him.  And for the most part he is pretty obedient.  The other night when T was at the house helping with the baby shower invites Julio thought he would just get on the table.  I looked at him and told him no and to get down.  He got down.  T, who has cats, couldn’t believe he actually listened to me.  What can I say, we are great fur baby parents!  🙂

Happy Friday!

Sad Nov 04

So I am feeling sad today.  Last night on FB I saw that a childhood friend of mine passed away.  Since I have been unable to get the details, I know it was not some sort of accident.  On top of his passing, his father is in hospice and not expected to make it much longer.

I was not very close to this person but for some reason I am really bothered by his death.  I woke up several times last night thinking about him and different things that happened when we were kids.  The last time I talked to him was a few years ago over IM and email.  He had been in Afghanistan serving and on his way home he was supposed to stop in Ft Bragg for a few days.  I gave him my number and told him to call me and we’d get together.  I never heard from him and later he emailed to say things had gotten crazy when he got back and he’d lost my number.  I figured as much.  And I also figured he would try to get home as soon as he could.

It’s crazy to think of the things he probably did and saw while he was overseas only to come home and pass away.  Like I said I don’t know what happened but I have some assumptions.  To make things worse M and I were watching storm chasers last night and the show was dedicated to one of the cast members.  At the end it said he’d had a fatal accident at home and passed away a week later.  According to Internet sites he committed suicide.  He was my age.

I hope that this post will help me feel better about the situation but I’m not feeling better yet.  I feel silly feeling upset over someone I hadn’t seen in so long.  I’m just not sure why I can’t shake the sadness over his passing.

It zips! Nov 03

Last night a friend came over.  We are co-hosting a baby shower and needed to get the invites out.  Since T was coming over to help, I mentioned I now had my dress and needed some help getting in it.  She offered to help although I probably wouldn’t have let her leave without helping. 🙂

After addressing the invites we banished M to the den and headed upstairs.  I grabbed the dress from the guest room closet and headed for the bedroom.  I put it on and told her it might not zip.  I sucked in a bit, she looked at it, “yep it’ll zip”, ZIIIPPPP, and it was on.  With NO back fat!   YAY!  I had her take some pics of me in the dress since my mom still hadn’t seen it.  And well I’m not gonna lie, I want to see what I look like 😉

The dress still looks amazing and we decided to go ahead and cut the flower off.  Now I can begin my NEW hair idea.  🙂

I’m just happy the dress fits, and Zips!  And it appears that I may not really need any alterations done, YAY!

I would post some pics but I know that M is a loyal reader and well we can’t have him seeing me in the dress before the wedding.
