{"id":313,"date":"2010-09-29T11:55:28","date_gmt":"2010-09-29T15:55:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/kandm.section30.com\/?p=313"},"modified":"2011-10-19T10:06:23","modified_gmt":"2011-10-19T14:06:23","slug":"down-in-a-drain","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/kandm.section30.com\/?p=313","title":{"rendered":"Down in a drain"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Last night M and I went for a walk around the neighborhood.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 This is more favorable then going to the gym especially on nice afternoons.\u00c2\u00a0 I like out afternoon walks, when we get them, because M and I get to just talk about our days and what&#8217;s going on in general.\u00c2\u00a0 It&#8217;s nice to just have that time to spend together.\u00c2\u00a0 I know that probably seems odd since we don&#8217;t have kids yet.\u00c2\u00a0 But our afternoon walks are just nice.\u00c2\u00a0 \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p>Anyway as we were walking yesterday I heard a kitten crying, loudly.\u00c2\u00a0 I told M I heard a kitten and he was like, what?\u00c2\u00a0 No you don&#8217;t.\u00c2\u00a0 So I turned around and headed towards the noise.\u00c2\u00a0 As I got closer to the corner I realized the sound was coming from the storm drain.\u00c2\u00a0 I immediately began calling the kitten trying to get him to come out so I could see him.\u00c2\u00a0 M walked over and started shaking the keys and I went to drain across the street.\u00c2\u00a0 After a few minutes the little kitten finally moved so I could see him.\u00c2\u00a0 Finally he came out and I see these big blue eyes look up at me and then he went back in the hole.\u00c2\u00a0 M walked to where I was and we proceeded to lift up the storm grate.\u00c2\u00a0 (Please note apparently it is against the law to lift these things ;))<\/p>\n<p>I climbed down the stairs in to the drain, yes I know, and tried to coax the little guy out.\u00c2\u00a0 After several minutes with no success M said we needed to go.\u00c2\u00a0 We could call animal control at home and they could get him.\u00c2\u00a0 I wasn&#8217;t happy about this but I knew we probably weren&#8217;t going to get the kitten out.\u00c2\u00a0 Plus a older man walking his dog said there were tons of ferrel cats in the neighborhood.\u00c2\u00a0 But this was a cute sweet kitten right?<\/p>\n<p>Once we got home I called the Raleigh animal control office to report the kitten.\u00c2\u00a0 They promptly sent an officer out to take a look.\u00c2\u00a0 I met her at the spot and the kitten was still crying.\u00c2\u00a0 She had to take a call and when she finally walked over the kitten had stopped crying and I hadn&#8217;t seen him again.\u00c2\u00a0 :(\u00c2\u00a0 With that we decided it was time to go.\u00c2\u00a0 The officer said they get numerous calls about ferrel cats in that particular area and the kitten would be fine.\u00c2\u00a0 So I returned home kitten free.<\/p>\n<p>Side note:\u00c2\u00a0 M told me before I left to meet animal control &#8220;You BETTER NOT bring a kitten home.&#8221;\u00c2\u00a0 Who me?
