Back to Blonde and then some Dec 03

Not that I ever really left, but last night I went to a new stylist to have my highlights touched up.  I must say, MUCH better.  There are not weird streaks, that I can see anyway, the color looks good and most importantly I didn’t spend a TON of money like last time.

I’m heading out soon.  Hal has the runny eye so she has a vet appointment.  This should be fun.  Then I realized Belk is having a huge sale today and if I use my card I get an additional 20% off.  Yes please!  So I am going Christmas shopping.  I have to run downtown and have my camera cleaned.  And then I need to run to Target and pick up the food items I need for tomorrows baby shower.  At this rate, with this list who knows when I will actually get home.

Oh and the kicker, I started tanning again.  I figured the holidays were a perfect time to start.  Yeahhhhhh, I got a few things crispy fried yesterday.  Mainly my ass.  It hurts to walk if your butt is burnt.  🙂  Oopsy!  M got a good chuckle at the color last night.

Also, my Christmas cards are STILL NOT HERE!!!!!  They supposedly shipped on the 29th.  But there is no tracking info from FedEx.  I emailed the company last night to make sure the order has been send out.  I’m currently waiting for a reply.

Now I just have to make it 20 more minutes so I can meet M for lunch, run home and grab Hal.  Go to the vet.  Go downtown.  Go the the mall.  Go to Target and finally go home and start cooking.  YAY Friday, ughh!

Well, then don’t post it on Facebook! Dec 02

I’m on my soapbox today so please bear with me.  There are many things that annoy me, some of which I have bitched about on here and some I haven’t.  I feel like I’m beating a dead horse at this point, but only because the issue has been resolved.  But this morning, this is what I had planned to blog about so here goes.

Now that I have a super cool phone with all the bells and whistles, I normally will skim through Facebook while the water is heating up for my shower.  Nothing annoys me more then when a status update hits me the wrong way.  I mean it’s before I’ve even had a chance to wake up!  (Okay, so I do realize this is my OWN fault, but still 😉 )

I have a cousin who is currently overseas.  Her and her husband have been in the Middle East for a couple of years now.  For a while her posts mainly bitched about various things related to living there.  In the past year or so, I’m not sure of the time frame really, her FB posts have become increasingly liberal, controversial?  I’m not sure either of those words truly describe it but that’s the best I’ve got for now.  A normal post is something like “I think this and that’s the way it is.”  Or “quote from some intelligent person who is insightful and wise – hence I will use this as mine so people will think I am wise and insightful.”

While I don’t mind the quotes she posts, I find some of them amusing.  This may sound snotty, but I know better.  I think it’s funny the person she tries to be on FB.  I guess that’s what all of it boils down to.  Who she wants people to think she is and who I KNOW she is.

So the latest FB post had to do with people responding to her statuses.  This was the final straw.  She’s done this before.  She will post something, something she KNOWS will get a rise out of people, and then get pissed when they respond.  This has happened several times with her posting that people should keep their opinions to themselves.

I finally knew I had to respond to her post today.  I responded with “if you don’t want people’s opinions then maybe you shouldn’t say it on fb.”  HEHE!  She responded that is wasn’t the responses but people “preaching” at her.  Umm, okay!  My mom even stepped in and agreed with me.  After that post I decided for my own sanity, it was probably best to hide her posts going forward.  Because, frankly, I DON’T CARE!  She makes herself look like an idiot.  I don’t have to witness it.

Rant over, I will hop off my soapbox for now.  🙂

Happy Thursday!

*oh and I had to turn my comments off (because people post so often, not).  I started getting a lot of SPAM comments.

Creativity overload Dec 01

I think I’ve said this before but all this wedding planning has kicked my creativity into high gear.  I am having a blast doing and creating things for our wedding.  I even helped a fellow knottie with her invitation background yesterday.  It makes me feel good I was able to help her out.  (And even better that it took less then 10 mins start to finish 😉 )

Just a few months ago I had very limited knowledge of Photoshop.  I’d never even opened Publisher.  Now I feel I could conquer the world.  Or at the very least some basic editing and design.  Why oh why had I not learned these skills months ago?  I used Photoshop to create our Save the Dates.  And honestly, if I’d had the knowledge I have now I might would have done something differently.  The one thing I spent the most time on is the one thing I’m just not super crazy about.

M admitted that he doesn’t like the pic we decided to put on it.  I have to agree.  We had a friend take some photos for us, and while I’m not complaining, I’m not crazy about any of the pics taken.  Maybe it’s my fault for feeling rushed in trying to get them out so quickly.  Oh well, they are done now and hanging on our friends and families refrigerators.

I hope that I will continue to find new and creative ways to use these skills.  I foresee a long line of adorable/rough and tough birthday invites, party invitations, and Christmas cards, ala Kelly.  Every project makes me feel more and more comfortable with my skill levels and more confident in the projects I can and will create.

I think that’s why I didn’t feel like blogging yesterday, I was working on the background.  One creative outlet for another.

Nada! Nov 30

I don’t know what is wrong with me but I don’t want to blog today.  It’s not actually that I don’t have anything to say.  Hmmmm!  I just don’t feel like typing.  Weird.

Happy Tuesday!

Brief recap! Nov 29

Wow so I feel like there is so much to catch up on right now.  First off, M and I had a wonderful Thanksgiving at his parent’s house.  The food was delicious and I didn’t have to make any of it. 🙂 I also managed to drag M to the beach Thursday afternoon to take a few pictures.  I think I got some really great ones but I spent last night editing some other ones.

Friday the guys played golf so Jill and I went to a few local stores.  I have been on a search for earrings for my wedding and Jill said she would buy them for Christmas if I could find some.  I really had no idea what I was looking for.  I didn’t know if I wanted clear earrings or maybe pink ones.  We walked in the first boutique and found the jewelry.  I found a pair of hot pink earrings.  They were nice but I wasn’t sure they were exactly what I wanted.  As we wondered around some more I found another pair of pale pink drops.  I held onto them and looked a little more.  I finally decided they were the ones I wanted.  And after trying them on at the house I knew they were perfect.  Now I have to wait to Christmas.  🙂

Friday was also a very big day for Auburn.  We played our in-state rival Alabama.  I think Alabama was on a 4 game win streak.  At the end of the first half Auburn was down by 21.  OMG, we are going to lose!  Somewhere in the back of my heart I knew Auburn would win this game.  We’ve come too far to give it all away and with the second half came a new wind.  Auburn managed to find their rhythm and won the game 28-27.  YAY!!!

Saturday M and I ran to the outlets.  Unfortunately neither of us managed to find much.  And yesterday we woke up and headed home.  I had my first “real” photo session yesterday with some friends.  I took E’s maternity pics.  And I must say I got a few really good shots.  Here are a few.

And my personal fave….

Happy Monday!

Changes Nov 24

I decided the blog needed a new feel to it.  Yesterday I decided to make a few changes.  I found a format that is more customizable.  It allows you to change the background, add new header pictures and several other things.  There is also a new title!  I think this is more relevant to what the blog actually is, a day in my life.

So far I think I like the changes.  There might be a few more things I tweak but I can’t imagine it will be much different.  I thought I would explain the update and move on.

M and I are headed to the beach this afternoon to have Thanksgiving with his parents.  I must say a trip to the beach will be a nice little break.  The weather is still really nice considering it is the end of November.  And I fully intend on going to the beach club house at some point and drinking a nice glass of wine.  Maybe take a few pics.

I feel like I haven’t taken pictures in a while.  First I need to clean my camera.   What started out as a few spots on the corner has turned into an ordeal.  I had my dad look at it when we were in MS but he only managed to disperse them, doh!  I called Wolf Camera this morning to see how much a cleaning kit was but apparently they frown upon that and recommend shipping it out.  Well since I am taking E’s maternity pics on Sunday, I don’t really have time for that.  Plus I’m not really going to pay the $60.00.  I’ll figure it out.  🙂

Speaking of, I am doing my first maternity pictures this weekend.  I will meet B & E at the Bell Tower on Sunday.  I had hoped the leaves would hang around until we were able to get some pics done, but no such luck.  Oh well.  I’ll have to work with what nature has given me.  Wish me luck!

Here’s to wishing everyone a wonderful and Happy Thanksgiving.  I just need to finish up some work so I can get out of here!

Spaztastic! Nov 23

I am all over the place today with wedding ideas.  It started last night as I began to think about our photo share cards.  Most couples set up an email address to use with a photo share site.  You give your guests the website information and then they can upload their pictures to the site.  This allows the bride, groom and guests to view all the pics and order prints.

This morning I spent a good deal of time on Vistaprint trying to decide what I wanted to use.  I have two options currently, one is a postcard the other a business card.  I told M to check them out and see what he thought.  He liked one design better then the other but is still not “sold” on the idea.

Since I’m waiting on him to “buy” this idea I’ve switched gears and now I’m working on day of time-lines.  Which honestly isn’t easy when you aren’t exactly sure how your day will go yet.  Again, I am completely all over the place.

It seems like it comes in stages with me.  I will be obsessed with wedding ideas for a few days.   Then I get distracted and move on to other things.  Then I will come back to the wedding stuff.  I guess this works well, I don’t burn myself out trying to get too many things going at once.

I kind of feel spaztastic today with my level of focus!  HA!  I’ve had no focus what so ever.  Good thing it is a short week.

As I sit here thinking of the work I could be doing, my mind is wondering what other wedding things I could play around with.  I think the door hangers have inspired me.  Ughh, oh well.  I’ll see what I can do. hehe!

*Sorry this is so scattered.  This is my life today.

OOT what? Nov 22

In the world of weddings you know that OOT stands for Out of Town.  In my case it will stand for out of town bags.  Most of the knotties make OOT bags for their guests.  I’ve toyed with the idea for months now.  And decided that since M and I would arrive several days after most guests, what would be the point?  Well Saturday I finally caved.  After running across a cute Do Not Disturb door hanger, I knew OOT bags were in my future.

I spend most of Saturday afternoon playing around in Publisher trying to get just the right fonts for my hangers, in between watching the State/Carolina game.  Anyway, once I was satisfied I had exactly what I was looking for I showed M.  He agreed they were a cute idea.  Considering they say “Please do not disturb.  We are recovering from Matt and Kelly’s wedding.” 🙂

I will add a few more items to the bags, but I don’t want to give all my secrets away just yet.  But I will say a trip to Michael’s at lunch successfully found the exact number of watermelon colored card stock I needed.  I had planned to print them off at work but our copier has a few random black dots so I’m not going to waste my card stock.

And for those who don’t watch football, NC State pulled off another win against the University of Carolina.  4 in a row!!!! GO PACK!

Vertigo Nov 19

Well I think I have Vertigo.  It started Wednesday night and has continued.  While not as bad as the other day I still feel myself going in and out of “spin” mode.  I told M no one should feel this way without first consuming copious amounts of alcohol.  M keeps telling me to go to the doctor but I’m sure it will pass, hopefully sooner rather then later.

I made it to work today and around 10am I didn’t know if I would make it all day.  I made M drive me to work since I didn’t feel I could or should.  He told me before lunch that if wasn’t going to make to let him know otherwise I’d be stuck at work.  So I guess I am stuck here until he picks me up.

I haven’t managed to get much done.  My pace today is SLLLLOOOWWWW.  I’m trying to move the least amount possible.  I sound pretty pathetic right now.  Oh well.  At least I will have to weekend to hopefully get this knocked out.  If it isn’t gone by Monday a visit to the doctor could be in order.

I guess I will try to do a little work now.  Happy Friday!

My head is spinning! Nov 18

I was so excited that M was home last night it made my head spin.  Literally.  I went to lay down with him and the room started spinning.  Nothing says Welcome home more then, I have to vomit now.  I woke up this morning still feeling ill so I called in to say I’d be out.

I finally moved to the couch in hopes I would start to feel a little better.  I started surfing the net and saw a post on the DW board about a bridal shop in Chicago burning down.  Then on FB there was a link to a google doc where you could put down your information if you had a dress you could donate.  Gee, there is one in my closet.  I immediately signed up and linked to pics of the dress.  Within minutes I had an email from CNN asking if they could use pics of my dress and would I mind doing an interview.  I responded that I had uploaded pics to the site and I would be happy to interview.  A few minutes later my cell phone rang.  OMG CNN is calling me.  I spoke to the reporter about why I would donate my dress and how I would feel if that had happened to me.  She said she would send me a link to the article once it was up.

I immediately called M, who didn’t answer.  Next I called my mom, who didn’t answer, so I called back and told her the story.  M finally called back and I explained to him what was going on.

A few minutes ago I got an email with a link to the article.  And what is the first thing you see?  MY DRESS!  AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!  I’m quoted on CNN!  How amazing.  And more amazing are all the girls willing to help and donate their dresses.  I know not many people read this but I am including the link to the article which also links to the google doc.

If you have a dress please consider how you would feel if, before you wore it, it was destroyed in a fire.  Help other brides.
